Loving it: Jennifer shared a collection of pictures from her time in the UK so far
Jennifer, who won an Academy Award for her role in Dream Girls, has said that she hopes her third studio alum puts the fun back into R&B and soul music.
She told the Evening Standard: ‘I feel like the music I love has lost its feel-good factor. What happened to that? Let’s bring it back. I wish I had been born in a Whitney era, an Aretha era, but I’m not. So can we bring that back? I guess what happened is just transition and time. Things change and people change. Each generation has its own flavour and its own style.’
Continuing she added: ‘I thought by my third album there should be a piece of me in it. I felt albums one and two were me just being a vocalist. But I’m an artist now. I’m confident enough in that to raise my hand now when I’m in the studio with producers and say, ‘This is what I think’.’
Trevor Nelson’s show is on BBC Radio 1Xtra Mon-Fri 10-13.00
