The 60-year-old media mogul has signed the troubled actress up for a reality TV show on her network OWN which follows Lohan as she attempts to get her life and career back on track following multiple arrests and rehab stints.
While Lindsay, 27, has claimed the show is her 'last shot' at getting back to the A-List, not everyone is convinced that putting her life on camera is the best choice for the starlet.
Exploitative? Oprah Winfrey has been accused of
exploiting Lindsay Lohan after signing her up for a new reality TV show
based on her post-rehab recovery
Janina Kean, President and CEO of High Watch Recovery Center in Connecticut, told FOX411 that 'everyone is exploiting Lohan and she is not well enough to realise this'.
Lohan was sentenced to 90 days in rehab after pleading no contest to charges for lying to police about driving during a car crash in June 2012.
She was released in July 2013 and insists she has been sober since.
However, human behaviour expert Patrick Wanis, PhD, told FOX411 that 'if Oprah really wanted to help, she wouldn’t need to employ cameras' while Jamison Monroe, Jr., CEO of Newport Academy, insisted that 'in order for Lindsay to maintain a normal lifestyle and get herself back on track, she should be out of the limelight.'
Cashing in? Oprah interviewed Lindsay after
rehab and went on to make a documentary about the star's attempts to get
her life back on track
He added that: 'Holding anyone in early sobriety under a microscope, with constant media attention could trigger another relapse.'
Yet the CEO believes Oprah is trying to help, saying: 'I do think Oprah’s (motives) come from a place of love and compassion, but she is not a clinician.'
Meanwhile, in the first trailer for Lindsay's reality TV show, it appears as if Oprah may be regretting working with the actress.
'Cut the bull!' Oprah is furious with Lindsay in
a clip from the trailer for her reality TV show on OWN, telling the
starlet she needs to change her behaviour or the show is over
At one stage she warns: 'You need to cut the bulls**t.'
Oprah gets annoyed after being told that Lindsay has been by staff on the show, 'She has changed things every single day – not following the rules that they agreed to.
'I was warned!' Oprah admits she was warned that Lohan would be difficult to work with ahead of their reality TV show
A clearly frustrated Oprah says: 'This is exactly what everybody said would happen and I believed differently.'
She even threatens to cancel the show, saying: 'My truth is that I want you to win, I really do.
'If that isn't what you want I’m OK with that. I'll tell these guys to pack up and go away today.'
Emotional: There are plenty of tears and tantrums to come on the show, which begins airing on OWN on Sunday
However, Lindsay asks to be forgiven and later says: 'I know that this is my last shot at doing what I love to do.'
There are many other moments of high drama in the clip, including when Lohan's sober coach fails to answer after being asked, 'Is she sober?'
Daddy dearest: While it was claimed Lindsay's
father Michael Lohan would not be involved in the show, he makes an
appearance in the trailer where he has an argument with Lindsay
Home sweet home: Lindsay's mother Dina speaks
about how happy she is to have the star back in New York after she went
off the rails while living in LA
However, the Mean Girls star also tells the
cameras that she no longer wants to drink because she has done more than
her share of partying. She says: 'There's nothing left in having a drink for me. What's left in that feeling? Nothing.
'There's no party that I haven't gone to, there's no person that I haven't hung out with. There's no situation that I haven’t been exposed to.'
Emotional: At one stage Lindsay becomes completely overwhelmed and storms off
The starlet famously has a troubled relationship with her father Michael and the show sees them have a confrontation.
She tells him: 'Now you’re making me angry because you weren't good for me for a long time,' to which the former addict replies, 'If you believe that, that's fine.'
Lindsay will premiere on OWN on Monday at 10pm.
