Gone but not forgotten: The Screen Actors Guild nominates the late James Gandolfini for his performance Enough Said

On June 19, 2013, Hollywood mourned the passing of James Gandolfini, but at the announcement of the 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild nominations, his peers proved that the late, great actor might be gone, but he was far from forgotten.
On Tuesday morning, Gandolfini was nominated for a SAG Awards in the best supporting actor category for his turn in Fox Searchlight's Enough Said.
The comedy features Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Eva, a divorce woman who finds romance with her best friend's ex-husband Albert, played by  Gandolfini in one of his final film performances.

Directed by Nicole Holofcener, the late Gandolfini, who would have been 52, scored the film's only Screen Actors Guild Award nomination. 
Gandolfini was no stranger to high praise from the Screen Actors Guild. The actor was best known for his portrayal of Tony Soprano on the HBO hit series The Sopranos, which ran from 1999 to 2007.
During its eight-year run on the premium cable network, Gandolfini received five SAG Awards and 11 nominations for his portrayal as the conflicted mob boss.

The actor took home the Guild's top prize for dramatic actor in 2000, 2003 and 2008, while he and the cast earned ensemble awards in 2000 and 2008.
On the day of his death, SAG-AFTRA released the following statement: 'We were shocked and saddened to hear of James Gandolfini’s death. He was an extremely talented actor who was greatly admired by his peers. Despite his tough-guy persona onscreen, he had a heart of gold and was an admirable human being who never stopped giving back to the community.'
The 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild announced its award nominations Dec. 11 at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood. The winners will be announced on Jan. 18, in a televised ceremony on TBS and TNT.
