The actress, who plays the girlfriend of a drug lord in the Ridley Scott film, was meant to have a soft Bajan accent.
However according to the Hollywood Reporter, when bosses listened back to her efforts they were shocked to discover she sounded just like the singer, who is known for having a thick accent, and forced her to dub it all.

The 41-year-old plays Malkina, a malicious woman with a sordid past, who is dating Reiner – the drug lord played by Javier Bardem.
She has already made headlines due to her racy role in the film, which is based on the Cormac McCarthy novel and has an all-star cast including Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender and Penelope Cruz.
In one scene the actress has sex with car, while dressed in a leopard print dress while Reiner (Bardem) looks on.

Strong: Rihanna, who is from Barbados, is known for having a heavy accent
It is played out as a flashback as Fassbender’s character – The Counsellor – asks Reiner what he would like to forget.
He replies: ‘I'd like to forget about Malkina f**king my car,’ before going on to describe the events in a voiceover as scene plays.
The scene hasn’t gone down too well with critics, with Indiewire’s Gabe Toro writing: ‘That moment plays out as a comic anecdote delivered by Reiner, and it's an amusing throwaway moment of sexual insecurities and confusion. It would have landed harder had Diaz (and her stunt double) not been placed in that demeaning position.’

While the film has been hotly anticipated as it marks the first on-screen reunion between husband-and-wife Penelope and Javier since 2008's Vicky Cristina Barcelona and also reunites Brad with Ridley for the first time since 1991's cult classic Thelma & Louise, it has failed to impress critics.
It currently has just 37% approval on Rotten Tomatoes and has grossed just $18m in the worldwide box office so far.
Filming for The Counselor took place during the summer of 2012 in London and Spain and was halted temporarily after the death of the director's brother Tony in Los Angeles.
A spokesperson for Cameron has been contacted for comment.
