And despite being in the spotlight actress Michelle Williams is known for trying to give her only child as normal as upbringing as possible.
So it wasn't that surprising on Friday to see the mother and daughter duo opting for for the bus as their mode of transport on their way back from the school run.
Down to earth: Michelle Williams keeps things simple by taking daughter Matilda home on the bus from school
The Brokeback Mountain star and her daughter made sure to bundle up warm against the wintery weather that has descended in Brooklyn.
Blonde actress Michelle wrapped up in a pair of fitted grey sweatpants which she teamed with a black cashmere jumper and a khaki military style jacket.
The screen star wrapped up with a thick black scarf around her neck and teamed her outfit with a pair of practical yet chic leopard print trainers for footwear.
Wrapping up: The mother and daughter duo were dressed cosily for the chilly temperatures on the East coast
Opting to go make-up free and wearing her short locks unstyled the bespectacled mother-of-one could almost have gone incognito as she blended in amongst the other parents on the school run.
The single mother held hands and chatted away with her eight-year-old daughter, whose father is late Australian actor Heath Ledger, who died following an overdose in 2008.
Matilda, who bears a striking resemblance to her Oscar winner father, was also dressed appropriately for the chilly temperatures in a navy puffa jacket and a pair of grey leggings which she teamed with a pair of pink and silver trainers.
The eight-year-old looked as though she may have been feeling the cold as she wore her hood pulled up tightly over her head.
Close: Michelle and Matilda walked hand in hand
and were all smiles as they caught up after the little girl finished her
day at school
Incognito: The 33-year-old actress was dressed down and looked like any other mother on the school run
Despite the cold weather the duo looked on good form as they waited patiently at the bus stop before boarding the vehicle alongside Matilda's schoolmates.
Clearly her daughter is her biggest priority, but Michelle's career is also going from strength to strength.
Whilst she started out as Jen in the popular television series Dawson's Creek the stunning star has gone on to make many critically acclaimed performances in films such as Brokeback Mountain and Deception.
In 2010 the elegant blonde starred in the massive hit Shutter Island opposite Leonardo DiCaprio and in 2011 she took home a Golden Globe award for her convincing turn as Hollywood's greatest blonde icon Marilyn Monroe in the film My Week With Marilyn.

Doting mother: The single mother made sure her precious cargo was safely on board before she climbed onto the bus
Not one to shy away from challenges, in
2014 the beauty will star as Sally Bowles in the Broadway revival of
Cabaret opposite Alan Cummings.Michelle will fill the shoes of Liza Minnelli who reportedly approves of the actress' casting.
