Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger were so close yet so far away.
The estranged couple both stepped out on Friday in their Los Angeles neighbourhood of Brentwood, just not together.
Maria,
57, was spotted stretching her shapely limbs in a buff-coloured, tweed
frock beneath a stylish ivory blazer down the store-lined street.

Short-heeled tan leather shoes
were a practical touch, and adding a splash of pizzazz to the whole
ensemble was Maria's large blue tote.
At
one point Maria ventured to cross the busy street, pausing for a minute
or two on the grassy median before continuing on her way.
She wore her hair half up, half down, but later undid the voluminous locks and let them cascade over her shoulders.

The television journalist seemed to be a mission, judging by that serious expression on her famously square-cut face.
Meanwhile just blocks away Arnold, 65, was seen on a joy ride with the couple's daughter Christina, 22.
Arnold pulled his car into a garage and the two got out and walked together to their next errand.

The Terminator star looked the
muscle man even still in docker trousers and a red sports shirt, while
Christina was dressed down in grey leggings, a casual jacket and
trainers.
The
mother-of-four has been trying to carry on along since filing for
divorce from action star-turned-politician Arnold in July 2011.
The split was brought on after it was revealed that her husband had fathered a son with the family's housekeeper.
Stalled proceedings: It's been two years since

The divorce proceedings seem to have stalled with neither Maria nor Arnold pushing to finalise.
As
TMZ reported in May, the pair remain on amicable terms despite the
scandal that rocked their family and have no real inclination to sever
their marriage completely.
In
January this year, the muscleman who has four children with Maria, told
a German newspaper he hoped they would be reunited, according to The
Associated Press.
'We're not fighting any war. I still hope for reconciliation, I still love Maria,' he said.
