Cheryl
Cole’s new husband is a hard-partying French playboy who divides his
time between the Riviera and a holiday home in the Caribbean.
Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini, 33, comes from a wealthy family in the south of France, and only met his new wife in May.

The pair fell head over heels
in love at the upmarket nightclub and restaurant, Cosy Box, which is
open for the duration of Cannes Film Festival.
Jean-Bernard,
who speaks English with a heavy French accent, wooed the Geordie star
in between helping to run the club, which is a favourite of US reality
TV star Paris Hilton.
Describing
his early meetings with Cheryl, Jean-Bernard said: ‘My English is
better than her French but I teach her the words. Mainly the bad words!
She teaches me the Geordie.’
In
fact, Jean-Bernard has always spoken perfect English, having studied
business administration at New York University in the early 2000s.
During
his time in the Big Apple he used to hang out at trendy Manhattan clubs
with a range of beauties from all over the world.
Commenting
on his taste in women at the time, Jean-Bernard said: ‘French girls are
better dressed, but they are like Upper East Side girls,’ he said. 'You
know: long dates and complicated relationships.’
When he finished his studies, Jean-Bernard stayed on in the USA, without having to work thanks to his parents’ money.
He became a regular at fashion shows in both New York and Paris, but his favourite pastime was simply ‘partying’.
In
2002 the New York Times (NYT) suggested that Jean-Bernard was part of a
‘Eurotrash’ group of jet-setters who had lots of money and just as much
free time to enjoy it.
Jean-Bernard
was just 21 at the time, yet regularly holidayed in St-Tropez, on the
Riviera, in Morocco, in St Barts and in the Mediterranean tax haven of
Monaco.
His favourite drinks are said to be Moet champagne and Ketel One vodka, though not both at the same time.
The
NYT piece reads: ‘In the fall he goes to Florence to buy clothes, he
said, then to Monaco and to the fashion shows in New York and Paris.
‘His
parents own a house in St. Barts, which he visits every year from
Christmas through early January. He said he's able to afford the travel
and the hard partying thanks to an allowance from his parents.’
A source told The Sun: ‘Only a handful of people knew. She’s never been so happy.’
The
source added added: ‘Cheryl’s madly in love and had no fear about
taking the plunge. She’s delighted he’s her new husband and wants to
have his babies. It’s a beautiful thing. She’s on cloud nine right now.’
According to previous reports, Jean-Bernard built up a playboy reputation in his twenties while living in New York.
In
a profile on ‘Eurotrash’ jetsetters by the New York Times, Mr
Fernandez-Versini was described as a university student ‘who summers on
the Riviera, spends winter vacations in St. Barts’ and took a year off
just to party.

‘However, since 2008, Jean-Bernard has used his connections to grow his pop-up restaurant business.’
Cheryl's stunning new engagement ring and wedding band have been
been valued at almost £300,000, according to jeweller to the stars Vashi
Dominguez.
The two rings he has bought the singer are far more
expensive than the original engagement ring bought for her by Ashley or the
second diamond ring he bought for her to make-up for his infidelity.

Earlier
this month Miss Cole said that Simon Cowell had been right to sack her
from the US version of the X Factor - and that she ‘wasn’t well in the
head’ at the time.
She had
been publicly humiliated when she was axed from the TV show in 2011 just
weeks into her high-profile job and before the series went on air.
But the former Girls Aloud star said that today she is a stronger woman for it.

Meanwhile Cheryl 's step-dad Anthony Leighton has said that the news she is married has come as a'right surprise'.

from his house in the Walker area of Newcastle close to where Cheryl
Cole grew up in Heaton her step-dad he said: ‘I am over the moon for
her. ‘If she's happy then I'm happy. It is a right surprise. She's
lovely and I am really happy for her.
‘The way to her heart must be through her stomach. Through a little cafe, wherever it was in France.
‘I
found out through Facebook, she doesn't bother with us much. She phones
her sister and she phones her brother sometimes but what we hear is
just back and forward.
‘It is a bit of a surprise for everyone. I'm pleased for her.’
When
asked if the family attended the wedding he said: ‘I couldn't tell you,
the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing in this family.
Nobody says nowt about nowt to anybody.’
