Robin Thicke hopes to 'win back Paula Patton with new song Get Her Back' at the Billboard Music Awards

His music helped win him a global audience, albeit some ten years after he signed his first record deal, and now Robin Thicke is hoping his new track will back estranged wife Paula Patton.
The hit-maker’s 14-year marriage to his childhood sweetheart crumbled in February when they announced their separation – but while the pair are believed to be leading increasingly distant lives Thicke, 37, has reportedly used their split as inspiration for a yet to be heard new song.
Appropriately titled Get Her Back, the track is believed to be getting a debut at the Billboard Music Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 18.

Lyrics reportedly obtained by TMZ suggest the Blurred Lines singer is intent on wooing Patton, who he first met at a Los Angeles hip-hop club in 1991, when he was 14.

One such line reads: I gotta get her, go get her back. I gotta treat her right/I gotta cherish her for life.
Another hints at a lingering regret from Thicke, with the reflective words: I should’ve kissed you longer/I should’ve held you stronger/And I’ll wait for forever for you.
MailOnline have contacted Robin's representatives for further comment.

Other performers at the imminent Billboard Music Awards include Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion, Miley Cyrus and Beyonce.
In early March TMZ reported the stunner was considering taking back the son of Alan Thicke.
'The two of them are now talking about what Robin needs to do to convince Paula that the marriage can work to her satisfaction,' a source said.
Another source added Paula has yet to feel convinced by Robin's efforts to prove he can be a good husband.

It was also noted she hadn't yet hired a divorce attorney.
For the past several months she has been spotted out alone, most recently in Vancouver on April 27.
Patton also talked to Vanity Fair about how she began her career in film production before eventually getting into acting.
'I felt uncomfortable in my own skin, so I liked the other side of the camera,' she said. 'It took till I was 27 to say, "You only have one life to live, so you might as well see if you can go and act."'
