They are considered to be two of the most stylish, impeccably turned-out actresses in Hollywood.
But as evidenced this week, even Nicole Kidman and Angelina Jolie can fall victim to a disastrous make-up job.
Nicole,
46, caked on the warpaint, making her look far older than her years, in
Cannes on Wednesday, while Angelina, 38, displayed white powder across
her forehead and left cheekbone at a premiere in New York on Monday.
Unfortunately, they aren't the only stars to have suffered make-up blunders. Below are 20 of the worst celebrity make-up fails.
Not their best look: Both Nicole Kidman and
Angelina Jolie suffered make-up blunders this past week, Nicole pictured

Melissa Joan Hart
She
became a household name as Sabrina The Teenage Witch, but magic
couldn't save Melissa Joan Hart from an epic make-up fail at a film
premiere in Los Angeles in November.
The
38-year-old mother-of-three strolled confidently onto the red carpet
seemingly unaware that her make-up artist had been more than a little
heavy-handed with the translucent powder, leaving her with a huge white
smear across her forehead and chalky remnants around her eyes and
nostrils.
Once
aware of the situation, the beaming smile quickly fell from the star's
face and her once poised and confident posture was replaced with slumped
shoulders and a look of defeat as she skulked off.
Oops: Melissa Joan Hart sported a huge white
smear across her forehead and chalky remnants around her eyes and
nostrils at a film premiere in LA in November
Miley Cyrus
From
a distance, Miley Cyrus cut a striking figure in a sexy jumpsuit at the
Maxim Hot 100 Party last May - but she was not ready for her close-up.
The
21-year-old had a visible layer of white powder around her chin after
suffering a make-up malfunction while glamming up to celebrate her title
as Maxim's hottest woman.
Loose
face powder is meant to be used - sparingly - to minimise shine, but
the application was a little heavy handed this time around.

Kim Kardashian
She is hardly known for holding back when it comes to make-up.
But Kim Kardashian looked like a walking mannequin at a Las Vegas event in 2013.
The
33-year-old was overly enthusiastic for the outing, when she caked her
face in base, and sported crimson lips and over-the-top fake eyelashes.
Even by her standards: Kim Kardashian, known for
caking on the make-up, took it too far with thick base, overly long
fake eyelashes and crimson lips at a Las Vegas event in 2013
Leighton Meester
She played a prim, perfectly groomed Upper East Side princess in the hit show Gossip Girl.
But Leighton Meester let down her on-screen alter ego with her garish make-up at an event in 2009.
The
28-year-old wore thick lashings of purple eyeshadow both above and
below her eyes, black eyeliner and crimson lips, a look more suited to
Halloween.
Blair wouldn't approve! Leighton Meester wore garish purple eyeshadow made worse with red lips at a NYC event in 2009
Ashley Judd
Her beauty is astonishing, but even Ashley Judd isn't immune to a bad make-up job.
The 46-year-old sported translucent powder under her eyes during a book signing in New York in 2011.
Her luscious short brown hair and rose-tinted lips were sadly not enough to detract from the powder disaster.
Time for a new make-up artist: She may be one of
the most beautiful women in the world, but even Ashley Judd isn't
immune from a bad make-up job, pictured in NYC in 2011
Uma Thurman
White
powder under your nose is sure to raise a few eyebrows, but powder on
your nose can also cause people to snicker, especially if you're a
celebrity.
Uma Thurman fell victim to the powder effect at a gala in 2010.
The
44-year-old Pulp Ficton star sported a dusting of white on her nose and
under her eyes, blissfully unaware as she smiled for the cameras.
Blunder: Uma Thurman displayed white powder on her nose at an event in NYC in 2010
Kelly Osbourne
As a host on Fashion Police, her job is to critique the red carpet looks of famous people.
But it seems Kelly Osbourne may not be the best person to be imparting fashion and make-up advice.
The
29-year-old displayed an orange face thanks to the wrong shade of
foundation, paired with an unflattering icy pink lipstick and dyed-grey
hair at an event in Los Angeles in 2012.
She's one to talk! Fashion Police host Kelly Osbourne sported an orange face and tacky pink lipstick at an event in LA in 2012
Sharon Stone
She has proven time and again that she is radiant completely barefaced.
So it's a mystery why Sharon Stone felt the need to detract from her natural beauty with heavily caked-on make-up.
The
56-year-old sported an amateur smokey eye, with too much charcoal
shadow that produced the dreaded raccoon-eye effect at the Sundance Film
Festival in Utah in 2008.
Not necessary! Sharon Stone detracted from her natural beauty with raccoon eyes at the Sundance Film Festival in 2008 in Utah
Avril Lavigne
She may be a rock star, but Avril Lavigne took make-up experimentation to another level in 2007.
The 29-year-old sported ghoulish red fake eyelashes and a glittery cat-eye at her album release party in New York.
The eye make-up was so extreme that her blue eyes were barely visible under it all.
Ghoulish: Avril Lavigne's eyes were barely
visible under thick red fake eyelashes and glittery black eyeliner at
her album launch party in 2007 in NYC
Eva Longoria
There's nothing 'desperate' about her, but even Eva Longoria can get it wrong in her quest to be beautiful.
The 39-year-old sported thick powder under her eyes after grabbing sushi with actor Kevin Connolly in Hollywood in 2011.
Luckily she wasn't pictured at an official event, saving her from heavy scrutiny.
Unaware: Eva Longoria displayed white powder
under her eyes as she left a sushi restaurant in Hollywood with Kevin
Connolly in 2011
Mischa Barton
She is a naturally beautiful woman.
So it's puzzling why Mischa Barton's make-up artist chose to line her eyes so heavily in black.
To
make matters worse, white eyeshadow finished off the look, causing the
28-year-old to look like a deer caught in headlights while posing at an
event in London in 2009.
What happened? Mischa Barton's make-up was fine
except for the unfortunate raccoon eyes she sported at an event in
London in 2009
Drew Barrymore
She famously got killed off in the first scene of the cult 1996 film Scream.
And Drew Barrymore certainly looked a fright at the 2003 London premiere of Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle.
The
39-year-old sported a white powder cast all around her eyes and cheeks
as she posed for screaming fans outside The Odeon in Leicester Square.
Ghostly: Drew Barrymore looked a fright at the 2003 London premiere of Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle
Jessica Biel
She usually looks flawless on the red carpet.
But Jessica Biel sported a touch of white powder on her nose at a film premiere in New York in 2010.
However, the faux pas did little to detract from her naturally gorgeous face.
Blink and you'll miss it: Jessica Biel sported a touch of white powder on her nose at a film premiere in New York in 2010
Tyra Banks
As a model, she gets to spend time with the world's top make-up artists.
But it seems Tyra Banks hasn't picked up many tips.
The
40-year-old looked like she had done her make-up in the dark with her
thick black eyeshadow and neon pink lips at a ball in New York City in
2012.
It's not Halloween! Tyra Banks looked like she

pink lips at a ball in New York City in 2012
Sarah Jessica Parker
She was hailed as a fashion icon for pushing the style envelope in the hit HBO show Sex And The City.
So
it was surprising when Sarah Jessica Parker arrived at the Golden Globe
Awards in 2003 sporting what looked like an amateur make-up job.
The 49-year-old overdid it with red eyeshadow, too much blush and crimson lips.
Experimenting gone wrong: Sarah Jessica Parker arrived at the Golden Globe Awards in 2003 sporting am amateur make-up job
Demi Lovato
She made headlines when she posted a make-up free selfie last year and encouraged her fans, called Lovatics, to do the same.
And Demi Lovato should have taken a less-is-more approach for an X factor party in 2012.
The 21-year-old overdid the powder, looking ghostly as she posed on the red carpet.
Too much: Demi Lovato should have taken a less-is-more approach for an X factor party in 2012 in LA
Nicole Kidman
It's time Nicole Kidman found a new make-up artist.
She
sported white powder on her nose and under her eyes, possibly a result
of using powder intended for HD film, not a camera flash, at the
premiere of her film Nine in New York in 2009.
But
Nicole still managed to look elegant with her strawberry blonde hair
pulled into a low, side chignon and keeping the of rest of her make-up
understated.
Rookie mistake: Nicole Kidman sported white
powder on her nose and under her eyes, possibly a result of using powder
intended for HD film, not a camera flash at the Nine film premiere in
NYC in 2009
Ginnifer Goodwin
She plays Snow White in the ABC show Once Upon A Time.
But Ginnifer Goodwin sported an orange - and not a milky - complexion at the Disney Upfronts in Los Angeles last May.
The 35-year-old added insult to injury with an unflattering cat-eye and bubblegum-pink lip gloss.
Not working: Ginnifer Goodwin sported an orange complexion and unflattering cat-eye at the Disney Upfronts in LA last May
Jennifer Aniston
It was a big night for Jennifer Aniston as she attended the premiere of a film she had directed.
But perhaps a strapless playsuit wasn't the best option for the actress due to the unsightly marks on her back.
The
45-year-old tried to cover up the round remnants of a recent cupping
treatment, but instead the make-up only made the circles look worse as
she arrived at the Los Angeles screening of Call Me Crazy last April.
Not a wise choice: Jennifer Aniston tried to use
make-up to cover-up the remnants of a cupping treatment, but the
foundation only made the circles look worse at the Los Angeles screening
of Call Me Crazy last April
Jon Hamm
It's not just the ladies who have to worry about a bad make-up job.
Jon Hamm was caught with a dusting of white powder on his nose at a Paley Center benefit in Los Angeles in 2012.
The Mad Men star wasn't aware of the blunder as he gave his famous grin for the camera.
