'I hesitated cutting my hair for 15 years': Jennifer Connelly on finding the courage to lob off her long locks for latest movie role

Jennifer Connelly has revealed that getting rid of her signature long locks was a tough decision but she loves her new look.
The 42-year-old actress, who debuted a drastic above-the-chin-length bob this June, told Redbook magazine that she had been wanting to go short 'for about 15 years' but always 'hesitated' in the salon chair.
However, after signing up to play the lead in Cry/Fly, a drama directed by Claudia Llosa and set for release next year, the mother-of-three was finally forced to change up her image.

Before and after: Jennifer Connelly has revealed that getting nearly 12 inches cut from her signature long locks for her latest movie role was a tough decision

A still from the film, which emerged in May, shows Ms Connelly modeling the new 'do' and she debuted the new look in public on June 11 while running errands in New York.
She previously told Vogue that she 'felt fine' when she first saw her hair.
'[But] about three days later, I woke up and went, "What have I done?'" she said, adding that now she 'really likes it'.
Her hair was originally cut by hairstylist Mandy Lyons, who created Sarah Jessica Parker's looks for Sex and The City.

More recently she visited celebrity favorite Garren Defazio for a quick trim. He made a name for himself in the late seventies for straightening Farrah Fawcett's Charlie's Angels feathers for a Vogue cover.
He now runs a salon on Manhattan's Fifth Avenue, where clients pay $705-a-time to have him tend their tresses.
Despite having nearly 12 inches cut off her dark hair, Ms Connelly says her new cut requires more upkeep.
'I never really used styling products when my hair was long,' she said.
