The 37-year old actress was attending the BFI IMAX screening of her documentary with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) on Monday night in the environmentally-friendly colour of green while her daughter opted for a androgynous grey trouser suit.
But of course the eight-year old had to come, as she joined her mother and the cameras on their quest to protect Africa's oldest national park, Virunga.
MOther daughter moment: Anna Friel attends short film screening with her child Gracie
Holding hands, Anna and her girl beamed at the cameras, before the Look Of Love star joined director Stephen Poliakoff in a Q&A before the short film screening.
Friel went for a fifties style for the night, wearing a vibrant green knitte jumper tucked into a patterned A-line skirt and checked sandals.
And it looked like Gracie had gone for the comfortable option of grey sweatpants with her shirt and jacket, finished off with a pair of brown boots.

During the Q&A, Anna made clear her stance on the idea of beginning oil exploration in the African national park, arguing that 'we don't have the right to drill for oil wherever we want.'
Poliakoff shared her sentiments, and brought attention to the animal life that could be lost if the land is exploited by companies like Soco who are reportedly hoping to dig up the land to find the non-renewable resource.
'That mountain gorillas could be gone from our planet within years is such an astonishing thing,' the director told the audience at the BFI on Monday night.
Family affair: Gracie joined her mother on the trip to Africa to highlight the risk of oil exploration
Natural wonders: The actress was able to see the wildlife first hand during her visit
Risk: Oil exploration would damage the landscape and could destroy the habitat of thousands of animal species in the park
Virunga is the size of a small country and hosts an array of rainforests, volcanoes and wildlife that have called the place home for centuries.
The WWF argue that UK oil company Soco’s plan to explore for oil is an added threat to the national park's environment and communities, already suffering under civil unrest and war.
Earlier in the day, Anna spoke about her time in Africa on Daybreak, where she opted for a sky blue, fish-tail dress and suede T-bar heels.
She donated a pink bra that she had worn once to the Bin Your Bra fundraising drive for Breast Cancer Awareness, as a tribute to her grandmother, who was diagnosed with breast cancer at 87, and recently had a mastectomy.

Gracie accompanied her to the interview, spending the day with her mother on the promotional rounds before they head back home to Frome, Somerset, where they share a home with her partner Rhys Ifans.
Stephen Poliakoff's three-minute Virunga short film starring Anna Friel can be seen at Odeon cinemas and the BFI IMAX in front of selected films.
