She may only be 18-months old, but little Blue Ivy is already a big fan of her father Jay-Z's music.
The 43-year-old hip hop mogul revealed he and Beyonce's little girl especially enjoys listening to his latest album Magna Carta... Holy Grail.
'She
loves all the songs,' he tells Vanity Fair in a new interview. 'She plays a song and she goes, "More, Daddy,
more... Daddy song." She’s my biggest fan. If no one bought
the Magna Carta [album], the fact that she loves it so much, it gives me
the greatest joy.
Daddy's biggest fan: Jay, pictured with wife
Beyonce and daughter Blue Ivy back in July said his daughter is his
'biggest fan' in a new interview with the November issue of Vanity Fair
magazine
'And
that’s not like a cliché. I’m really serious. She’s genuine, she’s
honest, because
she doesn’t know it makes me happy. She just wants to
hear it.
She's a fan: Jay-Z released Magna Carta... Holy Grail in July, and it has been listened to multiple times by daughter Blue
'I don’t know if Blue ever heard any of my music prior to this album,' he adds. 'I don’t play my music around the house.'
In
the candid chat with the November issue of the magazine, Jay discusses
his pursuit of Beyonce, her pregnancy, his rap career and what keeps him
motivated.
Admitting that 'of
course' he pursued Beyonce in the early days of their romance, Jay maintains he would have charmed her even
if he had been working a 'normal job' and not been a famous hip hop
star.
'If
I’m as cool as I am, yes. But she’s a charming Southern girl, you know,
she’s not impressed... But I would have definitely had to be this
cool.'
He also confirms that the line on his latest album: 'She was a good girl ’til she knew me' is about his wife.
When quizzed if Beyonce is no longer really a 'good girl', Jay-Z responds: 'Nah. She’s gangsta now.'
Jay,
real name Shawn Carter, married Beyonce back in 2008. The pair are now
the richest couple in the music business with an estimated fortune of
more than $750million between them.
Dapper: Jay-Z sports a white tuxedo and black
bow tie on the cover of the November issue of Vanity Fair where he
reveals he learned business skills from selling crack cocaine
Pregnant question: Jay-Z dismissed media reports
that the star was not really expecting their baby and said his wife was
now 'gangsta'
Despite their life of privilege, the
couple have occasionally been the subject of some off-the-wall tabloid
rumours, including whispers that Beyonce was not really pregnant.
Building up: Jay-Z was born and raised in an impoverished single-parent home in New York
'It’s
just so stupid,' says Jay. 'You know, I felt dismissive about it, but
you’ve got to feel for her. I mean, we’ve got a really charmed life, so
how can we complain? But when you think about it, we’re still human
beings
'And even in hip-hop,
all the blogs - they had a field day with it. I’m like, "We come from
you guys, we represent you guys. Why are you perpetuating this? Why are
you adding fuel to this ridiculous rumour?”'
Jay
may have started his career as a rapper, but he has gone on to become
one of the most influential voices in hip hop music with a number of
business interests.
He
tells the magazine he got his business skills from drug dealing - he
sold crack cocaine on the streets of New York during the 1980s.
'I
know about budgets. I was a drug dealer,' he said. 'To be in a drug
deal, you need to know what you can spend, what you need to re-up.'
Jay Z said he now regrets being part of the drug problem but said at the time he was only thinking about the money.
'Not
until later, when I realised the effects on the community,' he said. 'I
started looking at the community on the whole, but in the beginning no.
'I was thinking about surviving. I was thinking about improving my situation. I was thinking about buying clothes.'
He added that the most important plan a drug dealer can have is to get out of the business.
'You
have to have an exit strategy, because your window(for dealing drugs)
is very small. You're going to get locked up or you're going to die.'
