'My mom's constantly telling me I'm too skinny!' Eva Mendes reveals her mother's dislike of her slender frame in new interview

Her slender frame makes her the object of envy for many.
But there is one woman who doesn't appreciate Eva Mendes' skinny figure - her mother.
'I'll do anything for a role,' the actress tells the October issue of Lucky magazine. 'For The Place Beyond The Pines, I exercised a lot. I wanted my character to feel really depleted. 
'My mom didn't understand why I would want to look that way. She's constantly telling me I'm too skinny!'

Eva sticks to a healthy diet that forbids any red meat or chicken, although she concedes a weakness for cake such as the meringue cake from Porto's, a Cuban bakery near her Los Angeles home.

The results definitely show in the magazine's inside page where the trendsetter displays her curvy figure in a clingy black A-line number with furry shoulder details and low-heeled slip-on black shoes.
Looking fashionable is something that Eva always seems to get right and it helps that she's a designer with New York & Company.
'I never thought I would be a designer, if that's what I am,' Eva tells Lucky. 'And at first, I wasn't sure I could do it.'

Eva's mom, also named Eva, and other female members of her family convinced her she could do it.
'They were like, "Evie, you have to do this!"' says Eva, who adds that her first two seasons were inspired by them.
Eva's designs are intended to reach women of all shapes.
'My customer is not a fan of the way tabloids cover celebrity style: "Who wore it best." It's disastrous for women's self-esteem. With fashion, there is no right or wrong.'

Personally speaking, Eva's fashion taste doesn't always come with a high-priced label.
'I love a bargain,' she says. 

'Of course, to feel beautiful, you have to have healthy self-esteem and work on yourself, and that can be hard,' Eva maintains.
'And there are days when I don't feel great, but I put on my favorite dress and throw a scarf in my hair, and it makes all the difference.
'Hopefully my line can do that for women. Even if you're not feeling your best, let's admit it, the right outfit – it helps.'

'You can ask about my boyfriend. I just won't answer,' Eva says good-naturedly.
'The way my mother keeps track of me is looking me up,' she adds. 'I say, "Please, Mother, don't Google me!"'
