It's not often one gets the opportunity for a selfie with the First Lady. So Jennifer Lopez was quick to seize hers at the League of United Latin American Citizens' National Convention for the Empowerment of Latinos in New York today.
The singer posted an image of herself with Michelle Obama on Twitter today with the words: 'Me and my girl @FLOTUS at #LULAC national convention for the empowerment of Latinos. #represent #dreambig [sic].'

Mrs Obama gave a speech at the
convention, following an introduction from Ms Lopez, who wore a pale
pink fitted dress that coordinated with one worn by her six-year-old
daughter Emme.
And the women, clearly delighted to be in each others' company, shared an emotional embrace on stage in front of guests.
The convention was part of a whistle-stop tour of New York that included an appearance at Global Kids Inc at Baruch College in Manhattan, a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to global learning and youth development.

Fast friends: Ms Lopez and Mrs Obama were clearly delighted to be working together at today's convention
But Mrs Obama's presence was clearly too
much for one teen, Jania Nelson, who broke down in tears as she was
greeted by the guest of honor.
True to
form, Mrs Obama exhibited warmth and kindness, enveloping the student in
a hug when she became emotional, and later offering a supportive hand
to hold.
The Global Kids team, which works to develop youth leaders through global education and leadership programs, gave the First Lady a tour of the facility.
