A British
tourist had the tops of two of his fingers sliced off while riding on
the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at Disney World in Florida.
The
victim lost the tip of his ring and little finger after apparently
dangling them outside the log fume ride which inspired the Johnny Depp
movies.
Disney officials in Orlando, Florida, immediately shut down the ride in the Magic Kingdom park following the incident.

It was later reopened on Thursday after engineers said there had been no malfunction of the machinery.
The man, who is in his 40s, was rushed to a local hospital where he underwent
treatment.
A spokesman for the Reedy Creek Fire Department said the victim was an adult male from the UK.
His name has not yet been released but he is understood to have been visiting the theme park with his family.
Spokesman Bo Jones said: 'When the medics got to him he was already out of the ride and on the platform.
'He
was very calm and not freaking out, and the medics said he said the
accident was his fault as he had his hand where it should not have been.
'He
was very calm and just said he needed band aid for his fingers. He did
not want a fuss made and kept repeating he had his hand where it should
not have been.'

Mr Jones, from Reedy Creek Fire Department, said the tips of the fingers had been sliced clean off.
'The
man lost the tip of his ring finger down to the bottom of the nail,
while the little finger was about down to the first knuckle. From the
medical reports they were sliced clean off.'
The victim was treated at Celebration Hospital before being released. Guests
to the theme park going on the Pirates of Caribbean ride are warned to
keep their hands inside and not to put them above their heads or outside
the transport vehicle.
Riders
are invited to 'set sail on a swashbuckling voyage to a long-forgotten
time and place when pirates and privateers ruled the seas.'
It
is one of the tamer thrill rides at the Disney theme parks in Orlando
with people of all ages allowed to take part with no height restriction.
Disney rates its thrill level on their Magic Kingdom website as being 'Dark, Slow Rides, Small Drops'.
