Sharon Stone 'rushed to hospital' in Brazil earlier this month as local media speculate about a 'possible stroke'

Sharon Stone was reportedly admitted to a hospital in Brazil earlier this month after hosting a gala benefit for AIDS research.
The 56-year-old actress was treated for two days at the Syrian-Lebanese Hospital with local media outlets speculating of a possible stroke, according to a report in the May 5 edition of the National Enquirer.
The Basic Instinct star showed no signs of ill health on Wednesday while speaking at the opening of the InnovAge Greater California PACE health care center for senior citizens in San Bernardino, California.

Stone gave a speech in a smart grey suit at the event and smiled with her blonde hair pulled back as she mingled with dignitaries.
The Casino star co-chaired the fourth annual amFAR Inspiration Gala on April 4 in Sáo Paulo and reportedly was 'rushed to the hospital' after the event that drew stars such as Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Mary J. Blige, according to the National Enquirer.
The Sáo Paulo radio station RCN La Radio quoted anonymous hospital sources saying that Stone was admitted after suffering a stroke, while other hospital sources told the outlet Stone had an infection.

Another Brazilian outlet reported that Stone recuperated with friends after being treated with antibiotics at the hospital for the flu.
The health scare raised concerns among Sharon's friends who feared her charity work may be jeopardising her health, according to the Enquirer.
'Maybe this latest hospitalization will serve as a wake-up call that she needs to stop trying to do it all, and take it easy for awhile,' a source told the gossip sheet.

Stone was hospitalised in September 2001 for a subarachnoid hemorrhage stroke created by a torn artery at the base of her skull.
The actress fully recovered from the stroke and appeared in a 2003 commercial to raise awareness of stroke symptoms.
Sharon co-hosted the amFAR event while on her way to the Amazon in Ecuador to survey damage by waste from crude oil, according to reports.
