Back to the fuschia! Katie Holmes and daughter Suri Cruise are bright young things as they land in NYC

They are one of the most famous mother/daughters in Hollywood.
But Katie Holmes and seven year-old Suri Cruise were literally bright young things when they landed in New York's JFK Airport on Sunday.
The pair were seen disembarking a plane in Manhattan with Suri - daughter of Tom Cruise - wearing an adorable pink coat with matching suitcase.

Flanked by her mother as they navigated the arrivals lounge, Suri was discreetly ushered into a waiting car - even if her neon outfit turned heads.

Meanwhile, perhaps not wanting to steal the limelight from her girl, Katie looked positively bland in comparison.
Shunning a winter coat despite the freezing NYC weather, she wore a cream jumper with stonewash jeans and a pair of ankle boots. Her hair was tied back in a casual bun and held in place with a headband.

Mother nurture: Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise look similar in a striking show of family resemblance

Perhaps her lack of fashion focus is a gentle rebellion against her recent attempt to run a designer collaboration with Jeanne Yang, which was discontinued.
'I loved every minute of my time working on Holmes & Yang,' she told Elle UK, recently. 'I remain passionate about the design aesthetic we created, and am so happy with what Jeanne and I accomplished.'
She continued: 'However I am now concentrating on acting and motherhood, which did not leave the label the time and attention it deserved.
'I’m really thrilled that the final showcase for Holmes & Yang is in Elle - I had a blast at my shoot for the magazine. It is fantastic to feel like it’s ending on a high,' she said.

A source told People magazine that the winding down of the partnership was due to differences between Katie and Jeanne, going so far as to say there had been a 'conflict.'

'They have different approaches to absolutely everything: how to run the company, how to promote it and how to handle the press,' the source noted. 'It is much better that they go their separate ways now.'

Katie has a new TV show to look forward to, as she has landed a starring role as a NYC socialite in an ABC pilot.
If the pilot gets picked up, it would be her first full-time TV gig since her '90s breakout role in Dawson's Creek.
