With the world's top designers clamouring to dress her, it's certainly little wonder why.
On Saturday night, the 12 Years A Slave star knocked it out of the park once more as she slipped into a stunning burnt orange Givenchy number with sexy plunging neckline for the 45th NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) Image Awards.

Great minds! Lupita Nyong'o (left) and Oprah
Winfrey showed off their unique styles in two very different but
similarly hued burnt orange gowns as they hit the red carpet at the 45th
NAACP Image Awards at LA's Pasadena Civic Auditorium on Saturday
Hitting
the right note: The stunning newcomer is yet to put a foot wrong
this awards season, knocking it out of the park once again in this
two-tone Givenchy number with empire waist and sexy plunging neckline, paired with matching strappy stilettos and clutch
The Kenyan beauty completed her look with gold accessories in the form of a large cuff and dangling earrings, and played up her eyes with contrasting bronze-hued make-up, while she opted for a glossy orangey-red lipstick.
Her hair was worn in two fun and youthful bun-like mounds atop her head with a centre part.
Not her best look: The 60-year-old was more
modestly covered than her counterpart in her unusual
three-quarter-sleeve buttoned-up number with organza patchwork-like
detail and matching choppy, layered skirt
A-list catch-ups: The 12 Years A Slave star took
the opportunity to mingle with Oprah's Lee Daniels' The Butler co-star
and the night's prestigious Chairman's Award recipient Forest Whitaker
on the red carpet
Another notch on her belt: The relative newcomer
continues to prove to be a force to be reckoned with as she sweeps the
pool this awards season following her powerful performance in 12 Years A
Slave
Over-the-moon: The 30-year-old's ear-to-ear grin
said it all as she proudly posed with her latest gong - for Outstanding
Supporting Actress
No hard feelings: While the two women have gone
head-to-head in the Supporting Actress category all awards season, they
proved to be the best of pals and totally in awe of each other as they
shared a hug at the Critics' Choice Awards on January 16
But the newcomer wasn't the only one who chose the standout hue for the event, held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles.
Veteran talk show host and actress Oprah Winfrey proved likeminded as she also donned the flattering colour, though unsurprisingly the 60-year-old flashed significantly less flesh than her counterpart.
The Lee Daniels' The Butler star displayed a more mature style in a three-quarter-sleeve button-up belted number with unusual organza patchwork-like detail and matching choppy layered skirt, while she stuck to her signature voluminous curly 'do and complementary natural make-up.
Simply stunning: Heavily pregnant Kerry
Washington looked effortlessly stylish in her silk sapphire strapless
custom Thakoon gown, which featured an empire waist, train and
contrasting blush silk neckline and delicate off-the-shoulder sleeves
Plenty to celebrate: The Scandal star was
thrilled with her win for Outstanding Actress In A Drama Series, beaming
with pride as she took to the podium to accept her award
Surprise win: The shocked actress was then
brought back out on stage with the cast of her hit ABC political drama
Scandal as they were presented with the gong for Outstanding Drama
Series
Remembering a true hero: During the night's
proceedings, Oprah took to the stage to pay tribute to the late, great
former President of South Africa and anti-apartheid revolutionary Nelson
Mandela, who passed away on December 5 at the age of 95
Not only did the two women go head-to-head in the style stakes, but they also duked it out once more in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category.
Lupita continued her winning streak by taking the gong for her powerful performance in 12 Years A Slave.
All season long, the pair have gone up against each other in the Supporting Actress category.
What a treat! Stevie Wonder got the crowd up on their feet dancing and singing along as he entertained them during the evening
'My first selfie. Love @idriselba!
#imageawards': The 60-year-old finally proved there's something she
isn't so good at as she posed for her first ever selfie with pal Idris
Elba, which she posted to her Twitter page
Flaunt it! Singer and actress Brandy Norwood
(left) - who won Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series for
The Game - and
The View's Sherri Shepherd showed off their fashion chops and
enviable figures in glamorous slinky black lace and metallic sequinned
gowns respectively
All bases covered: Outstanding Actress In A
Daytime Drama Series winner Tatyana Ali proved her plunging black and
silver embroidered fishtail gown with tassel detail and sheer back
looked great from every angle as she twirled for the cameras
Two-of-a-kind: Scandal co-stars Tony Goldwyn
(left) and Scott Foley got suited up in dapper black with matching silk
ties and crisp white shirts as they took to the red carpet
However, it's not all over for Oprah, with the fan favourite being presented with the Entertainer Of The Year award at tonight's event.
Another of the night's big winners both on the red carpet and awards-wise was Kerry Washington.
Perfectly elegant: Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom
star Naomie Harris looked like a shimmering gold statue in her delicate
lace frock with plunging neckline
Far from Scandalous: Co-stars Darby Stanchfield
(left) and Katie Lowes couldn't have chosen more dissimilar looks, with
Darby opting for a figure-hugging green silk fit and flare frock with
grey waistband, while Katie picked black textured halterneck Halston
Heritage with voluminous skirt
Everyone wants a piece of her: A rather dapper
That Awkward Moment star Michael B Jordan took the opportunity to rub
shoulders with Lupita during a break in proceedings
Sharing the love for Lupita! The Fast & The
Furious' Vin Diesel also got in on the act, sharing a squeeze and a
wholehearted laugh with the woman of the moment
The heavily pregnant 37-year-old showed off her gorgeous new curves in a stunning silk sapphire strapless custom Thakoon gown with train and empire waist.
The figure-flattering number also featured a shiny blush neckline and delicate off-the-shoulder sleeves, while she accessorised with a matching blue silk Prada clutch.
The Scandal star completed her look with soft blush cheeks and lips and dramatic dark eyes and wore her long dark locks in a fishtail braid over one shoulder.
Specs appeal: A bespectacled Lupita was joined by Naomi Harris as they presented an award together
Starting young: China Anne McClain looked much
older than her tender 15 years in her canary yellow strapless lace gown
as she posed with her Outstanding Performance In A Youth/Children
(Series Or Special) gong for Disney's A.N.T. Farm
Too
cool for school! The Butler's Terrence Howard mixed and matched to
great effect in black dress pants and shoes, a shiny midnight blue suit
jacket and tie, white shirt and pocket square
Complementary couple: The star was the envy of
men everywhere with stunning wife Miranda on his arm, who looked
picture-perfect in her scarlet fishtail gown with peplum waist and sheer
bodice detail that made it appear strapless
Contrasting style: Ed Asner (left) kept it
classy and classic in his suit and bow tie, while Stevie Wonder rocked
his signature colourful and comfortable Indian-inspired kaftan and pants
A
little bump and grind! Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Terry Crews and The Good
Wife's Archie Panjabi jazzed up their presentation with some hip-on-hip
action
Winners are grinners: The cast of award-winning series Scandal got together to pose with their trophy backstage at the ceremony
Little and large: Tyler Perry (right) towered over fellow actor and comedian Kevin Hart as they posed together for a fun snap
Opposite ends of the spectrum: Oprah's bestie,
Gayle King (left), oozed elegance in her Grecian-inspired draped white
silk gown, while Grey's Anatomy star Chandra Wilson rocked classic black
with a twist with her dress's web-like intricate bodice design
Certainly proving it was her night, the actress was awarded Outstanding Actress In A Drama Series for her role as Olivia Pope in the White House-based ABC drama, which also won for Outstanding Drama Series.
The big winner of the night in the Motion Picture category was 12 Years A Slave, which took out the top award and amassed yet another win for star Lupita Nyong'o.
The event also saw Oprah pay tribute to the late Nelson Mandela, while invited guests were also treated to a special musical performance by Oscar and Grammy-winner Stevie Wonder.
Green with envy: Nia Long got all shy as she was greeted by the very handsome Idris Elba on the red carpet
In a league of her own: Regina King flashed
plenty of flesh in her daring black fishtail down with cut-out chest
detail and a cape-like one-shoulder feature
One
does approve: Actress and now talk show host Queen Latifah enjoyed the
show from the comfort of her well-appointed seat in the auditorium
Nothing to be blue about: David Oyelowo gave
quite the animated speech as he was awarded the Outstanding Supporting
Actor In A Motion Picture gong for his performance in Lee Daniels' The
Butler
He's a comedian, too! Action man Vin Diesel had the audience laughing as he presented an award
Oh hi up there! The fan favourite gave an
enthusiastic two-hand wave to those sitting up in the nose-bleed section
from her prime seat in amongst the action
Up close and personal: Oprah holds on to a young friend before the awards
Host with the most: Actor and writer Anthony Anderson took on the role of MC during the prestigious event
Ready to celebrate: 12 Years A Slave producers
Jeremy Kleiner and Dede Gardner and screenwriter John Ridley (from left)
proudly posed with star Lupita and their Outstanding Motion Picture
award after scooping the night's top prize
