As an occasional fashion designer and mogul, Kanye West is under no illusions as to the importance of exposure in U.S. Vogue.
And
it seems the 36-year-old rapper is still determined to persuade
fearsome editor Anna Wintour to put his girlfriend Kim Kardashian on the
cover.
Page Six reports
that Kanye and Anna were spotted lunching at the Beverly Hills Hotel's
Polo Lounge on Friday afternoon with the rapper in particularly animated
form.
Fast friends: Anna Wintour, pictured with Kanye
West in 2010, was spotted having lunch with the star on Friday where it
was reported 'he continued to lobby the star to put Kim Kardashian on
the cover of Vogue
'They were in a corner booth, very intense,' an onlooker told the New York Post column. 'He was talking nonstop. She did not get a word in edgewise.'
According
to Radar, Kanye's long term dream is to persuade Wintour to put his
reality star fiancé on the cover of Vogue 'wearing her wedding dress.'
The
controversial rapper famously complained about Kim's omission from the
pages of the fashion bible in an interview with Ryan Seacrest last year.
She's in fashion: Kim, pictured in a white long
sleeved crop top and skirt ensemble after dinner at Mr Chow in Beverly
Hills on Sunday
In the same row: Kim and mother Kris Jenner were pictured sitting along from Wintour at a Kanye West concert last November
Curtains for Kim: Kardashian sported this widely
derided outfit to last year's Met Ball partly organised by Wintour, but
the editor still hasn't put her in Vogue
'There's
no way Kim Kardashian shouldn't be on the cover of Vogue,' he said. 'She's like
the most intriguing woman right now. She's got Barbara Walters calling
her like everyday.'
And
bizarrely he claimed the reason Kim was more influential that Michelle
Obama, was because the First Lady could not share a bikini picture like
Kim's infamous bottom-baring pose in a white swimsuit.
'No one is
looking at what [Barack Obama] is wearing. Michelle Obama cannot
Instagram a [bikini] pic like what my girl Instagrammed the other day,' he said.
Kim
herself has attempted to make subtle inroads into being taken seriously
as a fashionista, even joining Kanye at the Wintour-organised
Met Ball last year, sporting a widely derided Givenchy gown
with matching gloves
But despite Kanye's protestations,Wintour, who has been editor of Vogue since 1988, remains unmoved.
'Anna has remained typically aloof to Kanye’s constant advances and offers,' a source told Radar.
However,
Kim has managed to make it onto the cover of former French Vogue editor
Carine Roitfeld's magazine CR Fashion Book, much to Kanye's delight.
'Carine
Roitfeld supports my girl. That's a breakthrough,' he explained to Seacrest.
'There's a wall of classism that we are breaking through.'
Style queens: Michelle Obama has graced two
Vogue covers and gained plaudits for her style as First Lady, while Kim,
seen on the cover of CR fashion Book has been snubbed by editor Anna
Wintour
