'I have in no way cut her out of my life': Tom Cruise says he has 'wonderful relationship' with Suri as he defends parenting skills in lawsuit

He is a famously private person but Tom Cruise has spoken about his divorce from Katie Holmes in a new lawsuit.
The actor is defending his parenting skills and opens up about his relationship with daughter Suri while doing so.
On Tuesday Tom filed documents in his $50million lawsuit against the publisher of Life & Style and In Touch magazines.

Keeping in touch: The actor maintained regular contact with Suri while working

Tom decided to sue after the publications printed stories on their respective covers which claimed the star ‘abandoned’ his youngest child after his split from her mother.
‘I have in no way cut Suri out of my life - whether physically, emotionally, financially or otherwise,’ Tom declares in the documents obtained by Radar.
He also wrote: ‘While I'm sure my daughter misses me when I am not with her (as I miss her), she is a very happy child, and we have a wonderful relationship and cheerful phone calls.’
In the documents, the 51-year-old cites specific times following the June 2012 divorce when he saw his eight-year-old daughter in the flesh.
Tom states in the declaration: ‘Even during the times when I was working overseas and was not able to see Suri in person, we were (and continue to be) extremely close.’
The Oblivion star was filming two movies at the time when the headline ‘Abandoned By Daddy’ was printed in In Touch magazine.
But Tom, who was last photographed with Suri in August 2012, says his schedule did not have an adverse effect on his relationship with Suri in any way.
He declared: ‘As my numerous emails with Suri's mother during this time period demonstrate, I was a constant presence in Suri's life.’
The documents are revealing as Tom has only spoken about his shock split from actress Katie once before.
‘I didn't expect it,’ he said of the end of his marriage to the actress during an interview with German TV network ProSieben in April.

Tom claimed he ‘had an unbelievable amount of time to think about it’ while he was working and concluded that ‘Life is a challenge.’
Tom added: ‘To be 50 and to have experiences and to think you have a grip on everything, and then it hits you - this is it, what life can do to you.
‘Life is a tragicomedy. You need to have a sense of humour.’
