While the 33-year-old rapper abandoned his English studies at Chicago State University in 1996, he has gone on to huge professional success and was asked to address a lecture hall full of students at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
Kanye and Virgil Abloh, creative director of his DONDA brand, gave a joint lecture as part of their DONDA Design Lecture Series, proudly watched by his fiancé Kim Kardashian, before Kanye’s concert in Boston on Sunday night.

Virgil posted a picture of Kanye surrounded by attentive students with the caption, ‘Just gave a talk at Harvard GSD with Kanye. Super surreal. #DONDA design lecture series
#yeezustour (sic).’
Kim took to Instagram to share her pride in West.
‘My baby speaking at the Harvard Graduate School of Design,’ she gushed.

Staying true to their jet setting form, earlier in the day the couple were out and about in New York.
Kim and Kanye use the bustling city as their East Coast base, so were both dressed ready to go for the rapper's lecture.
Kim covered up against the cold in a blush coloured woolen coat over a crisp white shirt, while Kanye donned a similar look on top wearing a white shirt with a light coloured jacket but added a pop of colour by wearing green jeans.
Kanye’s talk at Harvard came as he got his Yeezus tour back up and running following a forced break.
He had to cancel six dates and postpone a number of dates after stage equipment was damaged in a truck collision last month, leaving him unable to perform.
The ‘custom-made video truss’ and ‘60-ft circular LED screen’, which now need to be replaced are ‘so central to the creative vision ... it's impossible to put on the show’, a representative for Kanye said in a statement.
The statement went on to insist Kanye ‘will not compromise’ as he wants the show to be perfect for his fans.
It added: ‘Kanye West will not compromise on bringing the show, as it was originally envisioned and designed, to his fans. The Vancouver, Denver and Minneapolis dates have been postponed. Further details on the affected tour dates will be announced shortly.’
Fans had reacted angrily when Kanye proposed to his girlfriend of 18 months Kim in a lavish ceremony the day after cancelling his original Vancouver date.
The rapper popped the question to the reality star on her 33rd birthday on Monday October 21 with a 15 carat diamond ring at the AT&T Park baseball park in San Francisco, and later surprised her with family and friends pouring out of the dugouts.
West had arranged for the words 'PLEEESE MARRY MEEE!!!' to flash up on the giant scoreboard.
In a snap posted on Instagram, Kim can be seen holding her ring finger towards the camera as she flashes her gigantic dazzling engagement band while smiling broadly alongside her man.
The next day, the delighted new mother – who gave birth to the couple’s first child North this summer - posted a black and white picture of her new bling in front of the romantic scoreboard message, with the simple caption: 'Yes!!!'
Meanwhile, Kim's mother Kris took off on a private jet in order to meet the duo in New York for Kanye's upcoming concert and make sure to keep her Instagram followers updated on her trip.
