After all, it had only been hours since he announced he was splitting from his supermodel wife of three years.
But he did enthusiastically discuss kissing Condola Rashad for his Broadway run of Romeo And Juliet, and even offered to show host Kelly Ripa what 'snogging' was. Not exactly the behavior of a heartbroken man who has just seen his marriage crumble.
No tears here: In his first interview since his
split from wife Miranda Kerr, Orlando Bloom seemed in good spirits
during a sit-down on Live With Kelly And Michael on Friday in NYC
Ready to mingle: The British star was enthusiastic during his visit, even shaking hands with the audience
Michael chimes in, 'I'd love to see it!' then Kelly added, 'We have to take an emergency commercial break!' while her co-host countered, 'No we don't.'
Orlando continued, 'Yeah, snogging is such a British school boy term and we really have to go for it as well. It's funny, it's good though, it works.'
He likes to kiss her: The actor said that
sometimes he doesn't want to stop smooching his Romeo And Juliet co-star
Condola Rashad
The movie star got dramatic when talking about locking lips with Condola, 26, the Tony award-winning daughter of Cosby Show star Phylicia Rashad and football player Ahmad Rashad.
'We sometimes get applause after our first kiss because it just goes on,' he starts. 'Sometimes I'm like, I'm not letting go.'
Condola has appeared on the TV series Smash and The Good Wife.
Orlando started the play this summer and is committed to star as Romeo until at least January.
It's obvious he's become close to his co-stars as he tells the hosts, 'After the show, people go for a drink to certain different places.'
As far as the play, the star seems to be having the time of his life. 'I feel so fortunate to be doing it,' he told Kelly and Michael. 'I mean, it's a monster of a play, a wonderful play, but it was really one of those things where my mom was like so, so you decided to climb Everest on the first trip out the gate? That was your thinking, without oxygen.'
Another peck: He planted one on his model wife
just last month while they walked their son Flynn, aged two, in NYC's
Central Park
And Orlando enjoys being a New Yorker.
'I love when you walk out into the city you feel like you're part of the stream of life, you know what I mean?' he stated. 'You come across everybody, everybody's energy. Some people are going up the stream, some are down stream, depending on the day but we're all in it together. And I love it.'
The Lord Of The Rings star has also taken to the regular Joes that roam the city.
'New Yorkers are super cool,' he enthuses. 'I get the odd yo, Orlando, I love you movies. Otherwise I stick a cap on and my guy always says, look for quarters, look for quarters. Search for nickels. I'm loving Broadway, this is my first time.'
She's stood by him: Even though her husband of
three years locks lips with his Juliet every night, the Australian
catwalker showed up to his performances, which she did here last month
He also said he likes to take the boy out into nature.
'I love getting out into the environment a lot quite really,' he said.
'I like to walk him in the country side, build camps. We were out upstate the other day and we found this, do you remember those helicopter things when you were kid, throw them up. Can you imagine his face for the first time seeing that? It was just perfect.'
As far as returning to the Hobbit, the star said, 'That was a character that was created 15 years ago, so when Pete called me up and we're thinking we can bring him in, I was like, "Dude, I'll do it."'
He also joked that blondes 'have more fun.' His Hobbit character wears a blonde wig.
When Orlando and Miranda, 30, confirmed their split on Thursday, a representative for the British actor confirmed told E! News in a statement: 'Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr have announced that they have been amicably separated for the past few months.'
Weeks ago they listed their LA house for sale.
Assets are being sold: In a telling move, the couple listed their LA house just weeks ago
