The white-haired actor was on the set of his latest film, Fanny, looking like the famed figure of frozen fish fingers.
Wearing a skipper's hat, bushy beard and a fisherman's jumper, Richard, 64, looked like he only had the best at his captain's table.
Ahoy mateys: Gere looked like a dashing sea captain as he shot scenes on the set of Franny on Tuesday
Gere was sporting a far more
seaman-like look on Tuesday compared to his more eccentric wardrobe on
Monday, for his role as an eccentric philanthropist who befriends a
young pregnant, couple.Dakota Fanning plays one half of that young pair and looked all grown up on her first day on set on Tuesday.
The fake baby bump clearly took some getting used to as the giggling actress constantly touched it during a break from filming on the Delaware river in Philadelphia.
Aye
aye captain: Wearing a captain's hat, bright trousers and a heavy
sweater, Gere looked every inch the imposing sea captain as he stood on a
boat
Wrapped up: While Dakota wrapped up against the cold, Richard took charge of the boat
Fanning had her blonde hair pulled
back off her face and wore a long denim skirt, light grey top and a long
grey cardigan as she got into character for the independent flick which
was written and is being directed by newcomer Andrew Renzi. There was no sign of Divergent heartthrob Theo James, 28, who plays her partner, but Gere was on set dressed like a sailor.
The 64-year-old actor wasn’t wearing the long wig he sported for filming on Monday but he still managed to stand out from the crowd.
Imposing: Richard wasn't wearing the long wig he sported for filming on Monday but still managed to stand out from the crowd
All grown up: Former child star Dakota Fanning
sported a fake baby bump on her first day on the set of new movie Franny
on Tuesday
Wearing a captain’s hat, bright trousers and a heavy sweater, Gere looked every inch the imposing sea captain as he stood on a boat.
Franny centres around Gere’s outlandish character who meets a young couple (Dakota and Theo) and winds up deriving an odd sense of purpose from involving himself in their lives.
On Monday, Richard was almost unrecognisable as he whooped and waved atop a moving Mercedes Benz, sporting a long and wildly luscious mop of grey hair.
This feels strange! Dakota adjusted the bump as she laughed with a production assistant on the set of Franny in Philadelphia
Child star: She shot to fame as a child star but Fanning is now all grown up and playing a pregnant woman in her latest movie
Wavy-haired Scottish comedian Billy Connolly could easily have been Richard's body double - or vice versa - if you weren't looking too closely.
The bizarre ensemble that Richard was wearing had started with a perfectly respectable button-up shirt and freshly ironed trousers, held up with a brown leather belt.
His blue plaid blazer wasn't too much of an eyesore either, but things went downhill when the Primal Fear favourite teamed the ensemble with unfortunate looking striped socks and granddad slippers that should never have seen the light of day.
Covered up: Dakota kept the fake bump under wraps as she walked around the set in Philadelphia on Monday
Adding
yet another layer of woeful, Richard wore a silk scarf featuring spots
and a pair of sunglasses that looked like they were never intended to
fit a standard man-sized head. The actor was in a land far, far away from the suave suits and nifty ties that made up his Pretty Woman wardrobe of 1990.
In spite of his curious appearance, Richard was a ball of happiness as he gallivanted about the set in character for the upcoming indie drama.
Co-stars: Dakota was joined on set by Richard Gere, who plays an eccentric philanthropist
Lucky he's in character: The 64-year-old actor
wore a frightfully mismatching ensemble and wild hair to film scenes for
the upcoming movie
The star's prop for the day was a shiny Mercedes Benz convertible.
He stood up in the back of the expensive car as it moved through the busy streets, flailing his arms - and a walking stick - wildly about, well and truly outside the safe confines of the vehicle.
Filming has only just commenced, and it will surely be a welcome distraction for Richard, who announced his split from his wife of 11 years, Carey Lowell, last month.
Relaxing: The actor was spotted sprawled out on the back of a Mercedes convertible at one point
