He has often spoken of his admiration for Chinese cinema.
And
now Oscar winner Nicolas Cage is putting his money where his mouth
having accepted a starring role in a Chinese funded movie for the first
time.
The 49-year-old flew
to the Orient from Los Angeles on Monday with his third wife Alice Kim
and eight year-old son Kal-El in tow.

He is due to begin shooting the action adventure film Outcast alongside Hayden Christensen in the coming days.
At the Venice Film Festival last month he spoke of his admiration for the country's movie industry.
In
an interview with the nation's official news agency, Xinhua, he said
simply: 'I am attracted by Chinese cinema because it is good.

'I have a great relation(ship) with China and I am proud of that,' he added.
'There
is a great flow in the conversation that I have with the people there,
they are always very warm to me and I am very thankful.'
Speaking
of his work on Outcast, he said: 'I am looking forward to starting
this, as I have not made a movie with China yet but I was told that the
experience is really a good one, and they have fantastic food on the set
all day.'

The family dressed casually for their
long flight across the Pacific Ocean with Nicolas in jeans, a burgundy
T-shirt and a panama-style hat. He appeared to be growing a beard.
Former cocktail waitress Alice, 37, wore dark blue, skinny jeans and riding boots with a long cardigan.
And son Kal-El wanted to be just like his father walking through the airport in a grey hat.
