But
not so for Katie Holmes, who was spotted taking her seven-year-old
daughter Suri Cruise to her day of classes in New York, on Wednesday.
The
movie star mother sported stiletto heels for the parental outing,
demonstrating she was ready to tackle the busy day ahead of her in high
style.
Going in style: Katie Holmes wore high heels as she took her daughter Suri Cruise to school in New York, on Wednesday
The 34-year-old, who shares the youngster with her ex husband Tom Cruise, was looking exceptionally well put-together.
Showing off her long legs, the 5ft9in actress wore a flowy black skirt as she kept a protective hand on her adorable girl.
Completing her autumn ensemble was a denim jacket and oversize sunglasses as she pinned her dark locks into a tight bun.
In recovery: Seven-year-old Suri still had her right arm in a pink cast
Little Suri recently broke her right arm in an accident and has been spotted for the last week wearing a pink cast.
The young girl seemed to be in a fashion conscious mood as she matched her Velcro trainers to the colour of her protective arm covering.
But
the mother-daughter duo looked to have switched roles from a few years
ago when an even younger Suri had been seen on various outings sporting
her own high heels - causing many to fear that the practise was
unhealthy for the growing child.
Look-alikes: The adorable brunette pair were clearly mother and daughter as Katie placed a protective hand on Suri
Meanwhile, there has been growing speculation of late that Katie may be dating her handsome Canadian co-star Luke Kirby, 35.
The pair are said to have grown close on the set of her latest movie Mania Days which was shot in the Big Apple.
In
the film, which is due for release next year, they play manic
depressives who fall in love during a stay in a psychiatric hospital.
Hand-in-hand: The 34-year-old led her youngster to her day of classes
And the New York resident has not only opened herself to new love but also new foods as she recently revealed that she has tried the must-have Cronut, a cross between a doughnut and a croissant.
But only after taking her favourite hot yoga class.
'I
tried the Cronut. I went to the San Gennaro festival (in Little Italy)
last Wednesday - after hot yoga - and they were doing Cronuts. And they
were phenomenal,' she admitted.
Out of character: Katie's high heeled outing was a far cry from her normal style, pictured last week in New York
