Kanye West revealed his softer side when he opened up about his girlfriend and the mother of his baby daughter North, Kim Kardashian.
Speaking candidly on his girlfriend's mum Kris Jenner's talk show, Kris, set to air on Friday, the rapper opened up on his relationship with the TV reality star.
"I could have people saying, you know, this is going to damage your
credibility as an artist or as a designer and I say, you know, 'I don't
care, I love this woman.'"
In the preview of the show, the new dad
went on to explain the doubts people may have about their
relationship:
"Everyone knows you don't like paparazzi, why would you be with this
person?"
He answered the question himself: "I'm being with this person because I love this person and she's worth it to me."
The notoriously private rapper – who is expected to share the
much-awaited first photo of his two-month-old daughter North West – also
addressed the recent death of his grandfather, Portwood Williams Sr.,
who died earlier this month at the age of 98.
"You know my grandfather just past and (for him) it was never about money, it was never about popularity, his whole thing was joy, just joy, having joy in his life," said Kanye to a huge round of applause from the audience.
"She's my joy," said the rapper, referring to Kim, "and she brought my
new joy into the world and there's no paparazzi and there's no blog
comment that's gonna take that joy from me."
The show's host Kris, understandably touched by hearing Kanye's
heartfelt words about her own daughter, reacted by saying to the
audience, "That's pretty amazing."
Kanye, 36, has shown how eager he is to support his girlfriend's family
by appearing on the chat show. He is also expected to share a family
snap of his little one – the first to be seen in the public eye.
Friday's episode of Kris is the last of a six-week trial.
