Actress Julie Harris dies

Veteran actress JULIE HARRIS has died at the age of 87.
The celebrated Broadway icon and East of Eden movie star passed away on Saturday (24Aug13) at her home in West Chatham, Massachusetts of congestive heart failure, her friend Francesca James tells The Associated Press.
Harris made her Broadway debut in 1945 in the short-lived play It's a Gift, and went on to rack up 10
Tony Award nominations, taking home the trophy five times.
She began her Hollywood career in 1952, appearing in the big screen adaptation of The Member of The Wedding, and later played James Dean's love interest in the film version of East of Eden, and had a role in the 1988 drama Gorillas in the Mist.
On TV, she had a recurring role as Lilimae Clements on Knots Landing in the 1980s, and she also notched up credits in shows including Family Ties, The Love Boat, Bonanza, and Tarzan.
In addition, Harris had three Emmy Awards and a Grammy on her mantel, and she was also nominated for an Oscar.
In 1994, she was honoured with the National Medal of Arts.
