But on Monday Pharrell Williams had another reason to smile as he helped spread word that he will serve as coach on season seven of the singing competition show The Voice after CeeLo Green's February exit.
The 40-year-old musician tweeted, 'This is going to be so fun' after NBC officially announced the Oscar performer was on board.

The network also shared a photo of the hit maker - who has worked with Madonna and Snoop Dogg - where he's smiling.
The former N.E.R.D. band member wore an army green hat and camouflage shirt over a light grey V-neck T-shirt and layers of necklaces. The hashtag on the photo was NewVoiceCoach.
The Grammy winner appeared on the show before as Team Usher's season four mentor so he already is familiar with the format of the hit reality show.

But now the friend of Katy Perry (she was spotted saying hello to him on Saturday at a MOCA event in LA) will have more responsibility as he stars as a full-time coach. The songwriter will have to train his own team of singers during the fall.
This is the first official announcement as far as casting for the new season.
The season on the air now has Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Usher and Shakira as coaches. Regular Christina Aguilera has not been in her big red chair as she is taking a break.

The blonde became engaged Matt Rutler this year and also announced she is expecting a baby girl with him.
The Voice's official Twitter account has been dropping several hints in the past few weeks that Williams was joining the show.
Among the posts have been images of Williams' skateboard, personalized Adidas, and his over-sized Grammys hat that won sudden fame and was later auctioned off.
'HINT #4: We'll tell you what, the #NewVoiceCoach is definitely not sad,' the handle teased, referencing Pharrell's chart-topping hit Happy.

In a press release sent out Monday afternoon, NBC's Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Late Night Programming, said, 'It’s been a huge year for Pharrell, with recognition for his contribution in the world of music — the Despicable Me franchise soundtracks, his Oscar-nominated song Happy and his Grammy-winning collaboration with Daft Punk on the breakout dance hit Get Lucky.
'His dominance in record sales in 2014, coupled with his incomparable accomplishments in the world of fashion and design, make him an irresistible addition to The Voice family,' he added.
Pharrell has the clothing lines Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream.
Mark Burnett, an executive producer on the show, said, 'I am thrilled to have Pharrell come back to The Voice family, and this time … as a coach. Continuing in The Voice tradition of having the biggest and most current music stars as coaches, Pharrell fits perfectly.'
Pharrell’s most recent album G I R L was released on March 3. G I R L features duets with Justin Timberlake and Alicia Keys, as well as guest appearances by Daft Punk, Miley Cyrus, and JoJo.
