Posting a snap of herself as she cradled the six-week-old, the 45-year-old appeared to be ecstatic after speaking to the couple on Sunday, despite her previous reaction to news that the 54-year-old was expecting.
Sinitta, who went through a 'heartbreaking' abortion with the TV mogul when they dated in the 1980s, wrote: 'Wanted you to be the first (well after my mom and children) to hear about my next, serious new role... Drum roll...'.
Serious new role: Simon Cowell and Lauren
Silverman have asked Sinitta to be godmother to their son Eric, who
pictured with the star on Twitter
Before adding: 'At Mothers Day lunch with Mom, Magdalena, Zac, @JasonJGale @SimonCowell I was asked to be godmother to Baby Eric!!! X'.
Sinitta and the new parents had been pictured together the previous evening when they celebrated pal, Jason Gale's birthday at London's Sanctum Hotel.
The So Macho crooner is regularly seen out and about with Simon, who welcomed his first child into the world on February 14.
Over-the-moon: The 45-year-old, pictured with
her mother on Saturday evening at Attitude magazine party, appeared to
be ecstatic after speaking to the couple on Sunday
She previously hinted about her new role on the day that Eric was born, when she tweeted: 'Sitting in fancy bar in London with a very handsome man waiting to hear my godson has been born, bit tipsy but not ruined... too late to fly.'
However, neither The X Factor star or Sinitta gave any hint as to who the other godparents could be on their Twitter pages.
He simply wrote: 'Congrats to Sam Bailey on her debut album. It looks as if she is going to be number one this week', last week.
Who's next to be asked? Sinitta
tweeted: 'At Mothers Day lunch with Mom, Magdalena, Zac, @JasonJGale
@SimonCowell I was asked to be godmother to Baby Eric!!! X'
Sinitta might seem like an unusual choice by Simon for the role of godmother, after she took to Twitter to say she felt betrayed by him following the news that he was expecting.
Her posts also saw her talk about the abortion they went through that left them 'utterly devastated' during their on-off relationship.
Speaking to Hello magazine in September about the moment she found out Simon was having a baby, she said: 'I was completely and utterly stunned. I was in such a daze, to the point where I wondered if I was dreaming it.
Keeping mum: Neither The X Factor star (pictured
with Lauren) or Sinitta gave any hint as to who the other godparents
could be on their Twitter pages
'We knew we
were all close friends but I didn’t realize he and Lauren were falling
in love and, when I found out, I will admit I was taking aback and did
feel a sense of betrayal.'However, speaking about how Simon had changed since becoming a father last month, Sinitta told OK!: 'He seems like the Simon I used to know before the super-famous and super-rich Simon he is now.
'He was a big softy and a very affectionate, sweet, family-orientated man. I don't feel like I really lost him to fame and success, but he's started to be seen as a caricature and now Eric's brought a softer side of Simon back.'
Close-knit group: The So Macho crooner has been
friends with Simon, who welcomed his first child into the world on
February 14, for years
