She's the one! Love Actually star Thomas Sangster enjoys a day out in New York with girlfriend Isabella Melling

He was the wide-eyed young boy whose last ditch attempt to woo an American exchange student saw him tearing through Heathrow security in Love Actually.

But while a decade has passed since his breakthrough performance in that multi-stranded tale of love, both realised and unrequited, actor Thomas Sangster’s youthful features were remarkably preserved as he ventured out with girlfriend Isabella Melling.

The 23-year-old was spotted as he strolled through downtown Manhattan in New York on Wednesday with former actress Isabella, best known for her role as Wendy in children’s show My Parents Are Aliens.

Sangster, whose appearance in Richard Curtis’s 2003 film endeared him to millions, was instantly recognisable as the tousle haired son of bereaved single parent Daniel, played by Liam Neeson.
The British actor, a second cousin of Hugh Grant – with whom he starred in the movie  – had something of a height advantage over his girlfriend, and he towered over her as they walked past the Circle club on 41st Street.
Dressed in a fleece lined leather jacket, jeans and scuffed hobnail boots, Sangster was an innocuous sight during his latest outing – but eagle-eyed fans are more likely to recognise him for his latest role in Game Of Thrones.

The young actor plays Jojen Reed in the HBO Entertainment fantasy drama series, a character he will reprise when season four launches in April.
Speaking of his relationship with Isabella last year, he told Mandrake: ‘She has just finished university and is working in a café whilst she decides what she wants to do next.
‘I hope she will be able to come and visit me on set in Louisana when I film (new movie) The Maze Runner.’
