The American Idol judge climbed into Ellen's chair and gave her a huge hug - during an appearance on her talk show on Friday - and teased the chat show host about being terrified of germs after her unimpressed reaction when Jennifer revealed she is sick.
After Ellen said sarcastically, 'You have bronchitis? I'm so glad I hugged you,' Jennifer clambered on top of the star and wrapped her arms around her to the delight of the audience.
Get off me! Jennifer Lopez hugged her
'germaphobe' pal Ellen DeGeneres after Ellen joked she regretted hugging
JLo in case she caught her illness
They then had a playful back and forth where Jennifer said: 'You're a little germaphobe?,' to which Ellen answered, 'No, I'm not a germaphobe. I am not. But I
don't want to get sick.'
She went on, 'If you're sick I don’t want to get sick. There's a rumour going around that I am a germaphobe and I don’t know how that got started it’s just that I don’t want to get sick.'
When Ellen insisted, 'I think most people when someone says they have bronchitis would do the same thing,' Jennifer said: 'I don't know. I wouldn't. I’d be like oh I feel bad for you.'
While it's impossible to catch bronchitis from someone else, you can catch cold symptoms which develop into bronchitis.
Along with joking about germs, the duo also discussed Jennifer's six-year-old twins Max and Emme.
The I Luh Ya Papi singer's children celebrated their sixth birthday in February and she admitted they are beginning to exhaust her.
She said: 'They just turned six the other day, so they are getting way too big for me. I don't know what I'm going to do.
'They had their birthday at a trampoline place, you know the ones where you go and jump on the trampolines all day? They loved it.'
Keeping her distance: Ellen laughed and joked with her pal while Jennifer kept her distance
The 44-year-old star - who is divorced from their dad, Marc Anthony - believes the secret to keeping her children quiet at home is too make them do strenuous, but fun, physical activity every day.
She added: 'I loved it they were asleep by eight o'clock. I was like "Woah!" I'm going to do this every weekend.'
J.Lo also admitted that she sees a lot of her own personality traits in her daughter Emme because she is so bossy.
Asked whether Max and Emme get along, she explained: '[The kids are very different] she's in charge. Like most of the women in or family.'
And Ellen also poked fun at the name of Jennifer's latest single, I Luh Ya Papi.
Jennifer said: 'It's called I Luh Ya Papi. It's a little slangy. The producer I worked with's name is Detail.
He's a great producer. He works with a lot of hip-hop artists like Wade and all these guys and Drake and when we were doing the record, you know, it was like I love you. Right? And so I'd be like "I love you Papi, I love you."
'He's like "no, no. It’s I luh ya." And I was like "I luh ya? Ya okay. I luh ya Papi, I luh ya." I was like "okay" like every word was so micromanaged by him. It was very kind of a specific thing he wanted for the record.'
Exhausting: Jennifer admitted her six-year-old twins can leave her exhausted
Ellen joked: 'So you had to stop pronouncing things correctly.'
And Jennifer also briefly touched on her pal Leah Remini's decision to defect from the religion Scientology.
She said: 'It was a tough moment for her. You know what I mean? It's all she knew her whole life. When you're raised a certain way and you're around people, you know, for a long time, you know, whatever that is it’s gonna be hard so… we're good friends.'
Support: Jennifer praised her pal Leah Remini (L) for getting through her painful split from Scientology
