Time.com reports that celebrity hairstylist Terrence Davidson was left fuming after seeing imitations of his colorful coiffeurs for sale on Ms Minaj's website - something that she would profit from, not him.
Christopher Chestnut, an attorney for Mr Davidson, said: 'Her lawyers may complicate it, but we don’t need to get into intellectual-property law. This is basic American morality.

'Nicki Minaj lied to this man and cheated him.'
Miss Minaj recruited Mr Davidson in January 2010, before the release of her
platinum-selling debut album Pink Friday.
The hairpieces he created - which ranged from black to blonde to cotton-candy color - were a big part of her transformation from an emerging hip-hop artist to a pop sensation.
Among her most-famous looks were the Pink Upper Bun Wig, the Fox Fur Wig, the Pink High Top Wig and the Super Bass Wig.
Mr Davidson previously told Allure magazine that he created more than 100 wigs for Trinidadian-born Miss Minaj and had all of them filed on shelves at home 'like a library.'

He jokingly added: 'One of my bedrooms is actually my wig room - all Nicki’s. She takes up my whole room. She’s going to have to start paying rent!'
As Mr Davidson’s attorneys put it in their lawsuit, he was the man who 'significantly contributed to Minaj’s unsurpassed notoriety for her wigs.'
They also claim the two had planned to go into business together, selling hairpieces and making a reality show.
But come 2012, Mr Davidson alleges, with Miss Minaj’s fame still booming, her management team cut him out of their shared business plans.
In January 2013, he left her team altogether, citing creative differences.
Now, with Minaj-branded wigs on sale on her own website from $14.95, and with miniature wigs gracing the tops of her fragrance bottles, Mr Davidson wants a share of the profits.
He reportedly filed a lawsuit against the singer this morning at a district court in Atlanta.
