On his behalf, Kate read out a Japanese myth: ‘In Japanese myth the rabbits from my old costume that Kate's wearing live on the moon.
‘Kate comes from Venus and I from Mars, so that's nice. I'm completely delighted to have a Brit for being the best male, but I am, aren't I Kate? I think it's a great way to end the day.

Poking fun at Simon Cowell, he continued: 'Can we just take a moment to congratulate Simon Cowell because he's become a father.
'I bet the first time he met his son he said, "I don't like you … I love you." '

But the speech didn't appear to be received well by the audience as a source told MailOnline: 'It was pretty much silent in the audience throughout the whole thing.'
End of an era: James presented the BRITs for the final time on Wednesday following a five-year stint
James then took to the stage to for what was his last time presenting the BRITs after five years.
He said: 'That's it for another fantastic year. Huge thanks to
everyone involved.
'It's been an honour presenting the BRITs for you. Thank you
for having me. And what a fine way to end the night than to have two of the
coolest men on the planet performing – Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers.'
The
pair then took to the stage to perform Daft Punk's Get Lucky to close
the show and Pharrell wore his famous Vivienne Westwood hat, which he
brought to the event on a red velvet pillow.
