That's why he was paid $3m! Arnold Schwarzenegger wears blond wig and tiny shorts in absurd Bud Light Super Bowl ad

So far, he has tried his hand at bodybuilding, acting and politics.

And in an absurdly comical new series of Bud Light beer commercials, Arnold Schwarzenegger shifts his focus to ping-pong and awkward comedy.

According to Page Six, the 66-year-old former Governor of California has been paid $3 million to don a blond wig and embarrassing 80s sports attire to take on this quirky new role in advertisements created for a highly sought-after Super Bowl time slot.

The infamous Terminator is far from menacing in a pair of crisp white shorts and a vintage zip-up sweater, reminiscent of now laughable but once popular 1980s tennis
garb.

A black and white striped sweatband grips a long and luscious blond wig on Schwarzenegger's burly head, a humorous sight to see for anyone familiar with the man's previous body of work.

But the star commits 100 percent to the cringeworthy role, demonstrating an impressive ability to make fun of himself as he gears up to look the fool in front of what will be millions of football fans on February 2.

One of the clips - Arnold Warmup - shows the former bodybuilder doing a series of deliberately over-enthusiastic stretches against the ping-pong table.

Gaudy music plays in the background, with a heavy and cheesy bass line pumping as the large man swings his arms and throws his thick legs about the place.

Arnold puts a little too much cartoonish effort into perfecting his swing for the sport he has clearly had nothing to do with previously in his career, which is obviously part of the joke.

In a second teaser - Arnold Zipper - the camera follows as Arnie slowly and meticulously pulls the zipper on his sweater all the way to his neckline, grins menacingly, and utters a single word: 'surprise!'

The obscure footage is sure to make a long-lasting impression on Super Bowl audiences, who are known to be as eager to tune into the well-produced commercials as the actual game itself.

It typically costs companies $4 million for a 30-second spot during the Super Bowl, and other celebrities that have been brought on board this year for starring roles include Scarlett Johansson, Laurence Fishburne, Danica Patrick, David Beckham and Ben Kingsley.

New skill set? The star has acted, taken on politics and lifted many weights... but ping-pong is new
