'People expect us to be damaged but we're not messed up': Kate Gosselin's reality star daughters Cara and Mady, 13, open up about the 'annoying' mom they 'love'

Kate Gosselin, 38, raised her children in front of reality show cameras for Jon & Kate Plus 8.
The kids saw everything from the crumbling of their parents' marriage to mom's jump to superstardom that was capped off with a turn on Dancing With The Stars.
But on Wednesday the blonde's twin daughters Cara and Mady, 13, told People they're not Lindsay Lohans in the making.

'People expect us to be damaged,' said Cara, who lives with her mom in their sprawling Pennsylvania home.

'They think we're supposed to be so messed up, like, "Ooh, the poor Gosselin kids, they're going to be scarred for life, waaaaaaah,"' added Mady.
'Its so false, we're fine,' added Cara. 'We're better than ever, actually.'

The teenagers, who posed for the weekly in white clothes wearing their brunette hair down Kardashian style, didn't hold back when talking about their famous mom to writer Kate Coyne.
'She is so annoying,' Mady offered.
Cara added, 'But she's annoying on purpose! Like, she does it just to bother us.'
Mady butted in, 'Like, she says 'spensive. I'm like, "Mom, it's expensive. 'Spensive isn't a word! Stop it!'

Luckily for the girls, they don't remember much of their parents' ugly split, but they do remember their father's string of lady loves.
'I don't remember any of it. At all,' started Mady then changes her tune.
'Actually, the stuff I remember now is stuff that I didn't really see anything wrong with at the time... but now that I look back I can see, "Oh that wasn't a really good thing." Like girlfriends. Lots of girlfriends.'
After Kate, Jon memorably started dating tabloid reporter Kate Major who has since had Michael Lohan's baby.

'Like maybe that wasn't normal to have someone new, like, every week,' added Mady.
Cara joked, 'Every day, every minute, every second.'
Their father has regular visitation but still causes damage with the family's image. He told OWN his children have 'developmental problems.'
People also noted that Jon will be appearing on the reality show VH1's Couples Therapy with new girlfriend Liz Janetta, a divorced mother of three, later this month.
Also on Wednesday, Jon spoke to InTouch about his ex: 'She uses [this kids] like props... it's so unfair to them. It's a problem for her that she can't afford our old lifestyle anymore.'
The former reality star who now works as a maitre d' in Pennsylvania also said, 'I think she wants a show with the kids again. I consider that exploitation.'

Kate maintained the kids are doing fine.
'They are figuring out stuff on their own,' the single mother told People. 'I had to learn to give them a head's up when something happened. We're walking a tightrope.'
The blonde also said, 'I wish they were a little more innocent in some ways.'
But the split and Jon's nasty comments aren't the hardest thing the twins have had to deal with. Suddenly getting six siblings was much more traumatic, they insisted.
'I love them but... yeesh,' said Mady said, who also noted she will not have more than two children when she is older.
Mady said she wanted to be an actress one day whereas Cara is interested in being a doctor.
The girls would also not mind doing reality TV again. 'We miss the crew, the people we saw every day,' said Cara. 'We'd love to do it again.'
Toward the end of the interview, when mom Kate was not near them, they took on a sweeter tone.
'Our mom is the best,' said Cara. 'She wants us to have everything, and she fights for that, and I love her for it.'
