Cate Blanchett is named Best Actress while Lupita Nyong'o gets standing ovation as she wins Best Supporting Actress at Critics' Choice Awards

The Critics’ Choice Awards kicked off on Thursday night which saw, as host Aisha Tyler described it, ‘A group of people who hate movies deciding which movies they hate the least.’
The toast of Tinseltown joined forces at the Santa Monica Barker Hangar to see who would be taking home the prestigious gongs.
Best Actress was awarded to Cate Blanchett for Blue Jasmine, who was no doubt still reeling from her Golden Globe win and Oscar nomination for the role.

Cate pointed out her nine-year-old son Roman, who was doing magic tricks for the audience, and said: 'You need to be grateful that it is I, and not Jasmine French, who is your mother.'
