A trailer released last month for the movie showed Leonardo's character grovelling on the ground as Margot's character digs her high heels into his face.
Scorsese agreed to trim some nudity and sex scenes in the movie to get an R rating instead of the NC-17 that would have restricted the movie to only adult audiences, according to a report on Wednesday by The Hollywood Reporter.
The film was headed toward the NC-17 rating due to several explicit sex scenes and depiction of drug use.
