As a divorced, single mother there's no moping about the house for Tom Cruise's ex, Katie Holmes these days.

With daughter Suri now in her second year of school, Katie took a break from being a working mother to strut the streets of her beloved New York City.

The 34-year-old actress displayed her slim figure in a pair of skintight jeans with small white spots all over them.

Katie teamed the denims with a mohair cream jumper, white leather jacket and brown boots.

Finishing off her look, Katie went for simple make-up, and wore her brunette hair tied up into a high ponytail.

With her life back in balance after her divorce, and Suri in school, Katie is keen to focus on her film career again.

She finished work on Days and Nights, a drama being directed by Dexter actor Christian Camargo, who is also known to legions of Twilight fans for having played Eleazar in the Breaking Dawn movies.

She also filmed a drama/romance called Mania Days in New York opposite Canadian hunk Luke Kirby, Katie hopes these two films will remind movie bosses she's still a big star and, perhaps more importantly, a box office draw.

To prove that she's back on the Hollywood radar, Katie added her presence to the New York premiere of Gravity this week rocking a pink frock like no one else in the business.

Katie turned heads in a fuchsia A-line frock with a short pleated skirt that stopped a few inches above the knee, allowing spectators ample views of her shapely limbs.

The 34-year-old actress wore her dark-brown hair pulled back in a youthful ponytail that was both charming and practical, as it kept it off her neck.
The simple ensemble was further complemented by a pair of pointy beige pumps that gave the five-foot-nine stunner even more leverage.
