Queen Latifah beats Bethenny in daytime ratings battle... as her new chat show debuts with astonishing numbers

There's a reason why they call her Queen Latifah.
The star has proven herself to not only be a monarch in rap but also the supreme ruler of the latest crop of daytime chat shows battling for ratings.
The 43-year-old has beaten out her stiffest competition in the form of Skinnygirl mogul Bethenny Frankel by over a third more viewers.

Initially, Bethenny was favoured to dominate the daytime ratings after Ellen DeGeneres backed the former reality star in her debut as a chat show host.

But The Queen Latifah Show, which is a revival of her previous talk show that ran from 1999-2001, quickly proved itself to be the victor in the first week of airing episodes, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The Princess Of The Posse rapper debuted as the top-rated new chat show with over a 50 percent lead on all of her competitors, including Bethenny, in her initial week.

While, Frankel's show has steadily grown its viewership it is still lagging significantly behind Latifah's numbers.
The queen is enjoying the second-highest rated première in history since 2009 of a new daytime chat show with over 10million viewers in its first week.
And Latifah is currently averaging, according to the latest Nielsen ratings, over 1.8million viewers an episode.

The hip hop artist is reported to be backed by Jada Pinkett Smith, who is acting as the executive producer of the show.
But she is also getting some help from another friend in the music industry.
Lenny Kravitz designed the set of her chat show, giving an edgy feel to the normally conservative time slot.

And according to a recent Q Score survey, Latifah is one of the most admired personalities working in daytime television.
Her popularity helped her to beat out even DeGeneres in the ratings in San Antonio, Texas, last week.
This incredibly strong debut has made it nearly impossible for Bethenny to catch up.

Although, Ellen is still the one to ultimately beat as her ratings have steadily grown with her average viewership increasing by 2.5 from last year's numbers.
And Bethenny looks to be in for the long haul herself with 17 percent growth in her demographic wheelhouse - women 25-54.
Meanwhile, one of Latifah's secrets to her success may be due to her ability to draw big name stars as guests on her show, which has already included John Travolta, Jamie Foxx, Will Smith and Jake Gyllenhaal.
