According
to Page Six, researchers on the story by Vanity Fair contributing
editor Vanessa Grigoriadis have been asking Miami society sources
questions about Paltrow and Soffer, who recently married Aussie
supermodel Elle Macpherson.
Soffer was reportedly 'closed off in a private section' with Gwyneth, clad in a little white dress, when she attended the lavish re-opening of his Miami hotel the Fontainebleau in 2008.
He then reportedly gave Gwyneth a private tour of the hotel, whisking her away in his Bentley, and the following day, she joined him on his yacht with Kate Hudson.

Another topic that may be looked at by the magazine is the blonde star's friendship with a New York-based literary agent that dates back to at least 2008, The pair have worked together and last month, their friendship was mentioned in a Star magazine report.
In a piece about the Vanity Fair proposed article, the magazine noted: 'Star has been on the receiving end of Gwyneth’s wrath. Recently, a tipster reported that Gwyneth had carried on an affair with a literary figure, prompting Star to investigate the claim. We reached out to a former personal assistant of Gwyneth’s rumored lover, who was hesitant to provide information.
'It appears that the ex-assistant then contacted her former employer, who most likely informed Gwyneth or her representatives immediately, as Star received a threatening letter from the actress’ attorney – which did acknowledge that Gwyneth and the gentleman in question did know each other and had been to dinner together more than once – within hours of speaking with the ex-assistant.
'This preemptive strike could be regarded as highly unusual, as Star had not yet undertaken the formality of contacting Gwyneth’s publicist or agent (as we would for any subject of an investigation) to alert them to our upcoming feature and to ask for a comment. We do occasionally receive a legal letter AFTER making this standard “comment call” but to receive such a communication beforehand is almost unheard of.'
In the end, Star magazine did not publish the allegation, suggesting it lacked evidence.
Gwyneth has been married to
Coldplay rocker Chris Martin since 2003 and last month gave surprising
comments in an interview where she revealed she would like to be
forgiving if Chris cheated, seeming to insinuate that she would be
open-minded about infidelity.
She told Refinery29.com: 'I'm an extremely open-minded person, so I think if it was something I knew I was getting myself into, I wouldn't let it deter me from exploring the relationship.'
Starring in new movie, Thanks For Asking, which delves into sex addition, she added: 'No couple is the same, and as such, every couple takes on different challenges. I would like to think that I would be forgiving and/or forgiven.'
While in another interview, she added: 'I am a great romantic — but I also think you can be a romantic and a realist.
'Life is complicated and long and I know people that I respect and admire and look up to who have had extramarital affairs. It's like we're flawed — we're human beings and sometimes you make choices that other people are going to judge.
'That's their problem but I really think that the more I live my life the more I learn not to judge people for what they do.'
But she insisted her marriage to Chris was secure.
