'Back off George!': Clooney the prankster is warned as he photobombs director Steven Spielberg and Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld at charity event

He may have been the guest of honour at the USC's Shoah Foundation Institute 2013 Ambassadors for Humanity gala in New York on Thursday night.
But that didn't mean that George Clooney was the centre of attention all night.
However, the notorious prankster made sure that he was, by photobombing various happy snaps of celebrities throughout the night.

The cheeky jokester was back to his old tricks as the Foundation's founder, director Steven Speilberg, posed alongside Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld.

Hovering in the background, George was seen desperately trying to get the attention of the three A-listers as they posed for their happy snap.
Jerry's wife posted the hilarious snap on Instagram, writing in an accompanying caption: 'Back off George Clooney. Jews only. An inspiring, moving night at the Shoah Foundation's gala in NYC.'

In another photo, George was not quite as subtle, jumping up and down in the background behind his pals and waving above their heads as he desperately tried to get the photographer's attention.
While George seemingly had a ball playing pranks throughout the night, he was also rewarded with the Institute's highest honour, the Ambassador for Humanity Award for his tireless work as a global human rights activist.
Steven presented the prestigious accolade to the star on the night and said he could not think of anyone better to receive it.

'George's leadership as a human rights advocate and activist has shed light on humanitarian crises across the globe,' Steven said in a statement prior to the evening.
'His efforts around genocide awareness and prevention link closely with the mission of the USC Shoah Foundation, and I am honored to have this opportunity to recognize George as an Ambassador for Humanity.
'By speaking out for those whose voices might otherwise go unheard, George has been a beacon of hope, exposing crimes against humanity and advancing peacemaking through advocacy and action.'

The Foundation's Executive Director Stephen D. Smith, echoed the director's sentiments, saying that George perfectly reflected the ideals of the institute.
'I can think of no one who better reflects the Institute's ideals for social action and justice than George Clooney as our Ambassador for Humanity,' he said.
'As we work toward our common goals to lift the voices of eyewitnesses to genocide so that every generation can hear them, he is an inspiration to all of us.'

USC Shoah Foundation is dedicated to making audiovisual interviews with survivors and witnesses of the Holocaust and other genocides a compelling voice for education and action.
Steven established the Foundation after completing the film Schindler's List to collect and preserve the video testimonies of survivors and other witnesses of the Holocaust.
He envisioned that these eyewitness accounts would have a profound effect on education, and that the survivors would become teachers of humanity for generations to come.
George was also supported on the night by his best gal pal Sandra Bullock.
The stunning 48-year-old looked incredible in a black lace strapless dress and a pair of towering black satin heels.
The mother-of-one wore her chocolate locks out in a loose wave and an application of smouldering smokey eye make-up.
