Princess Charlene makes a splash at charity swim

After attending the joyful wedding celebrations of Andrea Casiraghi and Tatiana Santo Domingo, Princess Charlene swapped her chic wedding attire for a wet suit to help raise awareness about water safety.

The former Olympic swimmer surfed the waves in Saint Geours de Maremne in Southwestern France and helped teach children to swim at an event organised by club Inshore Rescue Capbreton. The
initiative was part of Live to Swim day, and had 150 excited youngsters participating.

It's a cause close to her heart. Charlene, who represented South Africa at the 2000 Olympic Games, aims to reinforce the awareness of water safety through her own charity, The Princess Charlene Foundation.

'We are all aware of horrible stories about small children drowning because they could not swim," she writes on the foundation's website. "Teaching them how to swim could save their lives, and the importance and awareness will help them to feel more comfortable and confident in all aquatic areas as well."

The charity swim took place the day after the blonde royal watched Andrea and Tatiana say "I do".
