He cut a predictably suave figure as he graced one party after another at London Fashion Week.
Indeed,
there wasn’t a hair out of place on his perfectly coiffed head during
nightly outings in the capital, ostensibly to escort fashion designer
wife Victoria from soiree to soiree.
But
a week can be a long time in the life of a jet-setting celeb, and so it
proved on Thursday when the former footballer arrived in Paris with his
famous head of hair looking more than a little ruffled and, at first
glance, considerably longer.
Bonjour: David Beckham arrives in Paris with his suitcase in tow on Thursday
Arriving at the city’s
famous Gare du Nord, Beckham cut an unobtrusive figure as he marched
onto the street with his suitcase in tow.
Despite his low-key appearance in the
French capital the 38-year-old looked predictably stylish in a
motorcycle jacket, black T-shirt and matching trousers upon which a
looping chain was clearly evident.
However,
the quiff he’s been successfully cultivating over recent months looked a
tad defeated following the quick trip across the Channel via Eurostar.
Au naturel: There's a little less gel in David Beckham's hair as he arrives in Paris on Thursday
Don't mind me: The former footballer doesn't appear to raise too many eyebrows as he makes his way out of Gare du Nord station
Given Beckham’s fastidious nature, his ruffled hair raised eyebrows – even if his presence did not.
So
too did the distinctly long strands of hair that fell across his heads –
prompting speculation that he might be making a game attempt to grow
his hair after embracing a greased, classic look for much of the year.
Beckham’s
quiff has been one of his more persistent hairstyles, having graced his
head long before he left southern California and Los Angeles Galaxy for
the chillier climbs of central France and Paris Saint Germain in
February.
Stroll on: The former Manchester United star strolls out of the station with an assistant, who appears to be carrying his suit
Over the years the
Beckham head has won almost as much attention as his spot-kicks, with
the footballer bravely attempting a diverse range of styles that
inevitably divided opinion.
It
all began with the floppy, boyish fringe during his introduction to the
Premier League stage in the mid-nineties – but that was relatively tame
when compared with what was to come.
In
2003 he attempted corn-rows during a visit to South Africa, where
England took on the national team shortly after paying a visit to the
country’s talisman, Nelson Mandela.
Remember these: Mohicans and Alice bands have featured in David Beckham's vast back catalog of hairstyles
The boy's got previous: David Beckham shows off his classic floppy fringe (L) and those infamous corn-rows (R)
There was also the infamous
Mohican that had football pundit Jimmy Greaves claiming he should be
stripped of the England captaincy.
During
his final days at Manchester United the former midfielder also appeared
to develop a taste for Alice bands – a look commonly adopted by
European footballers.
Having
retired from football at the end of last season, Beckham is now
ensconced in ambassadorial roles with Sky Television and the Chinese
football league.
The usual: Beckham, 38, has been sporting this classic look for much of the year
But should he wish to try his
hand at punditry, Gary Lineker has urged him to consider the Match of
the day seat that will soon be vacated by the departing Alan Hansen.
He told The Sun: 'I'd love to get David Beckham but I think he has made it pretty clear where his career lies!
'With Alan about to retire, there is a space for the next big star of punditry - and hopefully we will find him.
'We are trying lots of different faces and might continue to mix it up more, but who knows.'
