But for Celine Dion it seems, is proof that money can’t always buy taste.
The French-Canadian star, who has a fortune of £250m, is selling her six-bedroom Montreal home at a price tag of £18m, along with every item of furniture.
Up for sale: Celine Dion's home is now on sale for £18,000,000 on LuxuryEstate.com
Somewhere to swim: The mansion even has a good-sized outdoor swimming pool
Built in the style of a
French chateau, the 24,000sq ft property is located on its own island
and comes complete with a home gym, panelled library and a vaulted stone
wine cellar and tasting room.
It was designed by the 45-year-old singer and her 70-year-old husband Rene Angelil, in 2001, but the couple have decided to sell because they spend very little time there, and it was noted that Celine's family hardly ever visited - only twice in the last two years.
Joint decision: Rene Angelil and Celine Dion have decided to sell their Montreal mansion
Both Celine and her
husband are said to have only visited twice in the last two years after
the singer moved to Los Angeles when she signing a lucrative residency
deal to perform at Caesar’s Palace hotel and casino in nearby Las Vegas.
The website proudly reveals that the property has room to create a helipad to make the property accessible by air, while also emphasising the ‘classical interiors, eighteen-person dining room, sun rooms, games room, pool and majestic winding staircase.’
Regal: The regal-looking stairway is lined with a luxurious red carpet
Grand: The whole house seems to have a regal-themed look, with lots of gold and red
Somewhere to play: The property even had a billiards room complete with everything you would need for a night of cards or pool
They describe the
property, which has six bathrooms, as ‘a truly once-in-a-lifetime
offering befitting the most discriminate buyer’.
Dion has sold over 200 million albums during her career, and is regularly named as one of the world’s top-earning music stars. Last year she is said to have earned £13m, and her Las Vegas shows are said to bring in £1.5m each night.
Let's eat: Cream and gold was the theme in the dining room complete with 16 chairs
Now that's a kitchen: The mahogany wood kitchen was decorated with numerous gold pans
The singer married Angelil, who is also her manager, in 1994.
Earlier this month, the singer also put her £47m Florida mansion on the market. The 13-bedroom property on Jupiter Island comes complete with its own waterpark and also features its own lift through the middle of the mansion.
In addition, the property also includes an eight-bedroom guesthouse, a tennis house with a simulated golf range, a pool house and a beach house with a sleeping loft and massage room.
She and her husband created the property after buying two adjoining houses for £20m and knocking through to create a super-mansion.
Let's retire: The warm-looking living room had comfy furniture
Even more rooms: Another dining room was kitted out with green curtains above the windows
Dream bath: A curtain surrounds the wooden-panelled bath tub whilst the floor was decorated in patterned tiles
At the time, neighbours were less than pleased with the development over the massive amount of water the park would use.
Miss Dion’s vast wealth has also been bolstered by the huge worldwide hit My Heart Will Go On, which featured as the theme tune to 1997 blockbuster, Titanic. Kate Winslet, who appeared in the film alongside Leonardo di Caprio, has said that the song made her feel like throwing up because she had heard it so many times.
Not your average bedroom: The grand bedroom was decorated with cream furniture
A bit more modern: It seems like the TV room was the only one in the house to be kitted out in a more modern design
Gothic quarter: The underground dining table had a gothic feel to it surrounded by large candlesticks in the stone-walled room
Nice view: The outside gazebo looks over to the mansion
