He wants to do the right thing and settle down now he is going to become a dad for the first time, say pals.
Simon’s friend and show judge Louis Walsh, 60, said: “Simon has the baby and may be getting married next year.
“I think it’s a possibility. He is old-fashioned. And he is getting old. He is 53 now!”
Cowell and US socialite Lauren, 36, are expecting their baby around Christmas.
When asked about getting wed in the past, Cowell has claimed he is “too selfish and too much of a workaholic”.
But after Lauren, who was wed to property tycoon Andrew Silverman, 37, revealed she was pregnant with his child, he changed his mind.
Louis said he had met Lauren several times, including earlier this week when they all went out to dinner in London.
“I love all of Simon’s girlfriends. He is what he is. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for him.”
The new series of The X Factor kicks off tonight on ITV at 8pm.
But it will be the last one for Louis, who is quitting after 10 years, and Sharon Osbourne, 60, back for one season only.
Gary Barlow, 42, has also hinted he will go, saying: “If I leave then I am proud to have had James Arthur and Little Mix on the show.“Simon has the baby and may be getting married next year. I think it’s a possibility. He is old-fashioned”Louis Walsh
“I can look back and say those were ones we found.”
That could just leave Nicole Scherzinger, 35, on the panel for 2014.
It has led to rumours Cowell will return as a judge next year.
He left the show two years ago to oversee The X Factor USA in the States.
Asked if she would like Cowell back, Nicole joked: “Yes I would. It could quite possibly be me and Simon and Sinitta!”
Louis added: “I think Simon could be back next year. He is so fantastic on the show.
“If he came back I could be persuaded to return again. I only said I was quitting to get in first. Then I wouldn’t have to say I was sacked!”
